How do I redirect files to my HDD and not the SSD?

Hello,

I just built myself a new computer and have noticed that what I download and install through DIM is automatically being installed to the C: drive, which is my SSD and should be reserved more for the operating system and drivers and what not. I have a 2TB HDD to use for DAZ3D and my games but cannot figure out how to automatically redirect anything installed through DIM to that drive instead. I notice I can change the installation paths in the install manager but do I need the entire folder structure? For example, would I need to create a Users folder in my E: drive, and then the Public folder inside of that one, then Documents then My DAZ3D Library? There's also the "downloads" tab with its separate folders.

Thanks.

You don't have to replicate the Users... structure, you can use whatever path you like.  Make sure after adding a path in the Installation tab that you switch the Current Path to your new path.  You'll also want to change the download location on the Downloads tab.

EDIT: Nevermind, I tested it out by installing something. Everything seems to be installing to the other drive now, but should I also change anything in the DAZ 3D program?

In Daz Studio, go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager and add your new path under BOTH "Daz Studio Formats" and "Poser Formats".  After you've added it you can remove the default paths.

The default install path in DIM can't be edited, just make sure you set Current Path to the one you want.  If you tick the Show Details box in the lower right corner of the "Ready to Install" tab it will list the current path.

Don't change the path in the Applications tab unless the application has been installed to that path, or else plugins you install won't work.  If you want to have DIM install software to a different location, change the "32-bit software" and "64-bit software" paths in the Installation tab.

  • Okay, thanks for the help. I've went through and changed everything and it seems to be fine.
