what causes grainyness

 when im rendering a scene what  causes some graininess? what can i do to fix that

    I'm assuming you're rendering in Iray.  If possible, add more light (then adjust as needed in Tone Mapping).  If not possible to add more light, then I think you'll just have to run the render for longer periods of time.
