because you textures are being converted to .TDL files when the scene loads

if you do not need to use 3Delight you can remove this feature, otherwise it is a necessary by product of 3Delight converting the files to their proprietary format.

it still makes the conversion when you load a new scene. All textures are run through a process of converting for use with 3Delight (TDLmake) and/or all textures are added to the GPU buffer, make sure your GPU drives are up-to-date.

That's an old thread. I'm not so sure that 1) the issues w tdlmake is still applicable and 2) that's the issue Chris is having.

  • @fastbike  when i  load a saved scene up and get ready to render the screen turns white where daz is and says noit responding uses 100  percent of my cpu and 60 percent of my 24 gig of ram and then finally starts rendering after a few seconds of non  responding any time i check on it it does a non responding and freezes and then un frezzes

    1)  if you are not using 3Delight the TDLMake process is still intervening as a very CPU intensive requirement of the data to display process.

    2) I turned it off on my rig (i7 920, 12GB RAM, GTS 250 1GB DDR3)  and load up was not only faster I noticed the "application not responding" sequence was much shorter.

    3) I think at this point Daz should allow it to be disabled though the software. Its an unnecessary nuisance to Iray users who no longer use 3Delight.

    4) that does not rule out some 3rd party software intervening on behalf of the OS to intercept this process as something other than it is.

Thus my comment about an old thread. The link to Callad's Dropbox returns 404.
