Black lines

Hello,

I just have a quick question about the model. The very first image is from a render i did before I took a break. The following renders are from today. The forehead had these black lines i didnt notice after i sent the image to my iPhone to give me a better look. There's 1 or 2 that look different. I removed a few head morphs i added today adn after that, its the same morph from the very first inage. the very last image is using the same hair as the first render. I dont know what may have happened, I haven't touched that model since then.

    Load the character with the hair into a new empty scene.  See if it happens there.  If the black is present with the hair,  but gone when the hair is removed,  check if there is a morph applied to the hair itself.

    You have to be methodical. What is the environment?  What type of lighting is being used?  what render engine are you using?  Try the hair with the zero base shaping of the character and see if the problem still exists.

     I did what you said. Removed the model and reloaded. I kept the model near the 0 axis in the first image using the same lighting as the top[ pictures, no issues with the the lines. Second image, i increased the lumen's from 500k to 2.5m and they still appear, just less

    This is not too uncommon and is because of the mesh of the hair/scalp interfering with the mesh of the forehead. You can usually fix it by making the hair/scalp a tiny big smaller (or bigger) so that they are not both trying to be in exactly the same space.

    It happens a lot with OutOfTouch hairs - if the cap intersects with the head, you can get a line. What I do to fix it is set the viewport to smooth shaded, go to the surfaces tab, select all surfaces except the Cap and set their cutout opacity to 0%, then select the cap and set it's Base Color to shocking pink. You should then be able to clearly see where the head is poking through the cap. Go to the parameters tab and fiddle with the adjustment morphs until the cap is wholly outside the head - you can then reverse the changes you made to the surfaces to get it looking right.

    Adjust forehead depth on the hair usualy fixes this for me when it happens.
