Daz Studio - Photoshop (3d) Materials and textures are ... not quite as they should be!

Hi!

I'm curious if anyone knows a way to get all the maps to show up in Photoshop's 3d environment for painting over? Ie; I have a Genesis 1 Michael figure in Photoshop CC2014, using the bridge export to Collada. However when I import the file from Daz to PS, the materials come in very unexpectly. It only seems to show the shaders for the eyes, the rest is black. Then there's the problem of loading geo that uses multiple UV IDs / Layer in a 3d environment that only seems to recognise them all on top of each other ...

I appreciate this might sound confusing, so hopefully someone out there has tried to import and model from Daz into photoshop with the intent of painting over and seen that the maps and materials don't reflect what you see in Daz Studio :)

Any thoughts or ideas welcome.

David

Try exporting the obj separately, write materials, and collect maps. Put the obj, mtl, and maps all in the same folder and load that into Photoshop and see if that works.

  • Thanks, that seems to work for getting the geo and maps in. But now I can't seem to find a way to paint over all the maps. It seems I can only paint over one piece of geo at a time, which would be insane and not practical lol :)

    Any ideas?

I also tried Mari, but taking the mesh into Mari as an FBX killed Mari, and as an OBJ, just piled all the UV tiles into the first UDIM ..

    Thanks.

I know this is late, so I'm not sure if you've figured it out. I use CS6 Extended, and as long as I'm in 3D view I have no problem with painting over the whole mesh.
