Updated installs + NVIDIA drivers and Daz crashes.

Updated my Daz install to current 4.22, including the public beta. Installed the NVIDIA Game Ready Driver 560.81 (tried the Studio drivers first).  The public beta crashes at startup:

DAZStudio.exe caused ACCESS_VIOLATION in module "C:\WINDOWS\system32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nv_dispi.inf_amd64_34f9511bafd21ff9\nvcuda64.dll" at 0033:000000007EBB6791, cuProfilerStop()+50961 byte(s)

The 4.22 Pro release crashes after I've loaded a figure and changed the view to iRay with:

DAZStudio.exe caused ACCESS_VIOLATION in module "C:\WINDOWS\system32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nv_dispi.inf_amd64_34f9511bafd21ff9\nvcuda64.dll" at 0033:0000000085756791, cuProfilerStop()+50961 byte(s)

Does anyone else have this problem?

    Try an older driver, drivers newer than the monimum can introduce issues. It may also be wise to choose the clean install option, or even to use DDU to completely remove the driver (but that would be a last resort).

  • Yes I reverted to 551.76 (March 6th I think) and it works.  I didn't try the next most recent.  I went back six months just in case.

    Latest 560.81 (Studio) works all fine with 4.22 on my side ~~ better try DDU next time which usually can fix this sort of issue by full uninstallation as well as cleasing residuals.

    I shouldn't need to use DDU.  I use "Clean Install" on the driver install panel.  If something is broken, they should know about it.

    It is up to you...as long as you can fix the issue.
  • Is there a list of known good/bad drivers anywhere, with respect to Daz?   I have March's driver at the moment.  There are another 6 or 7 after that.

  • So I went from most recent, backwards, until I found a driver that worked.  My test was starting Daz 4.22 Pro and loading a character (scene subset, with hair).  The installation process was install driver, clean install, no GeForce Experience, reboot, run Daz.

    560.81 was bad (this is the most recent studio driver as of today)
    560.70 was bad
    555.99 was bad
    555.85 was bad
    552.22 was good

    552.22 worked with two copies of Daz open, Pro 4.22 and Pro Public Build, 4.22, each with a different character in, iRay on.

    I have a sneaking feeling my problems with NVIDIA drivers are to do with the NVIDIA Nsight installation that I used for dev work last year and never removed.  Removing it solved my issues.  Posting here so I no longer scare the horses with my driver version issues.
