Given the attention the Paralympics is drawing, and in particular Oscar Pistorius, seems like a set of running blades might be a nice simple set to produce.
A racing wheelchair might be a little more complex, but again offers the chance to tap into current interest.

I always thought that Morris's Lazarus (http://www.daz3d.com/shop/lazarus-for-m4) looked a lot like Oscar. I will have to try something with Cyborg Model 4 and Lazarus for a future take on the idea...
