Why can't I loop or ring?

I take a cylinder and turn it to a vertex model. I then try to loop an edge and I can't. Here is a video showing my trying.

I'm not sure why this isn't working (maybe it has something to do with each vertex having five edges connected to it?), but out of curiousity why are you even doing this?  Why convert a primitive instead of creating a vertex cylinder?

This is common to all modeling software - triangles stop edge looping.  This is actually a very handy common trick in modelling.

You would need to de-triangluate, then delete the cap to get it to loop.  But, as MDO2010 writes, why go through all that when you san simply insert a cylinder in the VM?

Thanks for the info on triangles.

This was just a simplified example. I had used two primitives in a model and then tried to bend one and could not find a way, so I tried converting it to a vertex model so I could bend it. It looks like I will just delete the primitives and start with a fresh vertex model.

vertex points are numbered. suspects mebbe out of order
