Can't make PWGhost to work properly, help!

Hi,
I just purchased PWGhost http://www.daz3d.com/pwghost and tried to run it in DS 4.8.
I chose the M4 figure, selected it on Surfaces, and clicked on the Preset and on the Phatom preset. It turned my figure into this greeny doll, nothing ghostly.
Can anyone help me out?

What rendering engine are you using (it looks like Iray from your example)? The PW shaders are designed for 3Delight.
If you are using the 3DL render engine, also make sure that PWGhost is correctly installed. Certain products (this is one of them) are half content and half in the DS program folder. I'm not sure what DIM does with it, but for a manual install you need to do the following:
unzip the product into a temp folder, locate the top level folder named something like “DAZ Studio_4.5;4” or “DAZ Studio_4.5;4;4.x Public Build;4.x Private Build”, then manually merge those files and folders with the corresponding folders of the same names where DS is installed (For WINDOWS 7, that's probably defaulted to "C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4").
I had the same issue while updating to 4.8 and solve it with a new installation of the PW Shaders. Now I have the same problem again and try a new installation now. (We will see if it helps, again).
The main problem is that 4.9 did not recognize the PWShader. In the surface Tab were PWGost should be listet as used Shader it stated used Shader <multiple>.
Yes; that was the problem.
After a new installation of the PWShaders they ar recognized by DAZ Studio 4.9 and everything works fine.
Deinstall and reinstall it and your Problem should be solved, too.
Thanks for your help guys.
I'm having a similar problem. I've tried several different install / reinstall cycles with no change. Is PWGhost only 3DL? Does it work with Iray?
Yes, all of the pw shaders are 3Delight only. Shaders in general are for a specific render engine.
There's no indication on the pwghost page (that I saw) that it is 3DL only...? Are all the PW products 3dl only?
Yes...most, if not all of them are 10+ yrs old.
Anything with an SKU under 20,000 or so is going to be 3delight (assuming it has DS native files).
That's fantastic to know.
But it means that I have just wasted $9.99 on a product that I won't be able to use. I'm exclusively using Iray, because it's faster, and gives better results... The ShareCG free equivalent, doesn't seem to work with Hair and clothing, so I was hoping to use PWGhost to prevent me from spending 2-3 days trying to come up with a GeoShader solution.....
The simple fact is, the catalog should indicate if it's not IRAY ready, since that's the new feature they are moving towards...

As long as you've had it for less than 30 days open a support ticket http://www.daz3d.com/help/help-contact-us , set Sales Support as the contact department, and request a refund (include the order number and, if applicable, payPal reference in the fields under the main box).
Not every older product will fail, most wil be usable with a bit of tweaking of materials (and you can always use the sahders included with DS for things that really do need work, like metals), but shader based items will definitely be an issue if they are for 3delight.
If it was purchased within the past 30 days you can request a refund. I've reported that the product pages should specify that these shaders are 3delight only.
While I love Iray, I'll point out that 'faster' isn't most folks' experience with Iray, though it depends on a lot of things.
I agree, this is the second product I've purchased this week that didn't appear to work as advertised, and only later after asking around, did I find out they were 3DL only; it's not a deal breaker, but it would definitely save a lot of wasted time on the front end, if I'd known that.
If it was Iray compatible it would say so in the description in most cases.
If this is the case, maybe the web site could be designed to show a banner for certain types of products with lower SKUs, letting users know they were designed for 3DL and other older technologies. I too have been disappointed a lot recently with items that don't work as advertised--or items like the animation plug-ins that do work as advertised, but are extra-difficult if you've invested in the current generation of figures. Anything you guys can do to make customers more confident in the store would be good.
The problem is that a lot of 3DL content can be used in Iray just fine. So they'd have to go through content to identify stuff that specifically can't work.
And the only concrete reason to do that is to save on the CS time for returns.
It would be nice if they did, but I understand why they don't.
