Self Portrait - is it really possible?

I've just seen someone elses post and see that they have done a self portrait -
What a wonderful idea.

How would you start? I'd like to use the genesis or Michael base as I already have those.

DO I submit a picture of myself somewhere to see if anyone can manage this?

A friend of mine did a very good likeness of himself at one point. He used a couple of photos of himself as a background then made the figure partly transparent so he could see through it while he spun dials.
