Shouldn't "save as" always bring up the name of the current project?

Shouldn't "save as" always bring up the name of the current project?

I have to type it in every time.

  • That would depend on the application - I think some do populate the name so you can edit it, but then there is a risk of accidentally overwriting the original file so perhaps that is why DS doesn't populate the name field with the current one.

I recommend V3D Super Save. Save Incremental Pro is wonderful. I assign a keyboard shortcut to it. It will save a file with the same name as your open scene but append _001, etc., incrementing the suffex each time you use it.

  • Yes, it should. To make the program behave like other programs leverages prior knowledge and reduces the chance of inadvertent error. Furthermore if you are going to save a file under a new name/version it is most likely that you're going to save it in the same directory as the current one. Conventions are there for a reason - they save time. Regards, Richard.
