Parenting issue, could use a hand

I'm still using Daz 4.7. Recently when I parent an item, the child object parents to the parent object's center. For example, I used to parent furniture to a room's floor and then be able to move the floor/room around instead of my figures or camera. Very convenient. Place chair where'd I'd like it and then parent the chair to the floor in the "Scene" tab. Now, and I don't remeber changing any of my settings, the chair automatically moves to the xyz center of the floor. I then need to move the chair back. This becomes more of a hassle with figures and space ships I try to assemble from various parts and objects.

Can anyone tell me where the setting to make the parented objects stop "centering" is?

thanks so much.

In the Options dropdown menu of the Scene tab, there's a tickable option for "Parent items in place". That might be what you're looking for.

SpottedKitty, Thankyou for your time to respond. That was helpful and solved my problem. Much appreciated and have a great one!

  • Always glad to help. "Parent In Place" is actually one of the Odd Bunch of settings, whether you need it on or off depends very much on what you want to do. I usually leave it on, but there are times when I need to leave it off for a while.
