[SOLVED] Making invisible limbs visible again after wearing a clothing

Dolce SaitoDolce Saito Posts: 192

(I searched the forums but couldn't find an answer to this. So if there is, sorry)

Sometimes, when I put a cloth/shoe to a figure, the limb underneath it becomes invisible. This adversely affects my work since if I want to give a cloth slight translucency or slight transparency to a shoe, then it looks unnatural or broken.

With some clothing, it is as easy as setting the visible property to ON to make the limb re-appear. I salute those authors for keeping things simple. Unfortunately, for some other products, authors choose to make it as painful as possible. No invisible geometry, no hidden bone, visibility ON, visible in viewport ON.

Can someone point me to a checklist where these limbs can be made visible underneath the clothing again?

Thanks in advance.

If so... the vendor used the technique of Auto-Hide Faces for Attachments on the garment. To re-assign faces for Auto-Hide, check Jay's tutorial in there (at 8:00 min.)  https://youtu.be/lvR59BjPpNw?si=tyRN8J3rq_1_K-65

Another way is to completely remove the graft for Auto-Hide in DSF file... better name the product if you want to do so ~~

@crosswind: I'm sorry I couldn't achieve what I wanted. That tutorial only shows how to "set auto-hide faces for attachment". I couldn't figure out how to remove it once the wearable is fitted to the character. Interesting enough, someone else also asked the same question under that video, which the actual question is left unanswered.

As I said above, if a vendor intentionally used Auto-Hide on a fitted garment, the only way of removing the auto-hidden graft is to edit DSF file to remove the graft coding block.

Since you still didn't name the product you're using, just check this thread to which I ever repied about how to remove a auto-hide graft: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/8546581/#Comment_8546581

    YES!

@crosswind: I really appreciate your answer. It worked. I even brought it to one step ahead. The dsf files have gzip headers.

In windows, you can simply open or extract the .dsf archive with 7zip. Made the change, put the file back in, done.

I really wish it would be as easy as disabling a button in the UI as: "Hide Pre-Defined Grafts" in the product properties somewhere. So much inconvenience.
