How to Apply Material and Pose Mane and Tail to DAZ Horse 3?

I'm not a new user, and have been using DAZ for years, but I couldn't figure out where else to put this basic question.  I  just got the DAZ Horse 3 bundle and realized that when I applied the materials, the mane and tail stayed white.  So then I purchased the additional Base material and Pro material sets, but don't see any options to add a material to the mane and tail.  Also, when I applied a pose to the horse, the mane stayed sticking straight up, mohawk fashion.

I didn't have this problem with the Daz Horse, and Daz Horse 2.  I was able to figure out where and how to apply the textures, but this one has me stumped.

Any help would be appreciated.  If there's a tutorial somewhere, please point me to it.

In Daz Horse 3 there is no options for changing hair colors (materials).

But you should be aware that it is strand based hair, and the viewport color is different from rendered color (it is black).

If you want to you can change the colors in the surface settings.

Furthermore, it is dForce hair, so you will have to simulate it first.

The mane and tail are stand-based dFroce, so they don't take textures and get simulated (Simulation Settings pane) to drape.

  • Thanks guys - I know nothing about D-Force.  I saw the simulation settings panel but there didn't appear to be any options.  Looks like I have a big learning curve before I can get any use out of this bundle I just purchased. Bummer.

Just click Simulate at top-right in the first place, you can refine settings as needed later.
