Atmosphere Volume 1 - Dramatic Render Settings Released (Commercial)

My first Atmouspheres set has been released today, ( Atmosphere Volume 1 - Dramatic render settings ) . Render settings are so important to the way that your scene  ends up looking, and the enviromental render settings using sun sky only are in my opinion the most powerful tool in the box when used well.

This set of render settings (atmousphereic settings in reality) uses that tool to its full extent, and is the first in a series of sets of render settings which will elivate your secene to new hieghts, meaning that they can be used straight out of the box, in a couple of clicks, or as a starting point for you to tweak and make your own, perfect for both the beginner and someone who knows their daz studio onions both!

Find them HERE

    Martin,

I've already bought and downloaded this set.  I like to use a sun camera to point the light, I find it much easier to use than rotating the dome, so I will be interested to see how the two work together.

    Cheers,

    Alex.

Has anybody found out how to use them?

I have just double clicked a couple of the render presets but get exactly the same image - no change.

Are you using either the Sun and Sky mode or one of the Dome mode with no HDRI ?

Same scene, two differents settings (Crisp I think, because I didn't take not yesterday but it's the one with the same date and time, then Winter Morning), with the dome rotated and the ground fog removed:

I have used one the skies available in:

    https://www.daz3d.com/skies-of-iradiance-sunny-sky-hdris-for-iray

    and got this.

Then I have tested different render settings from:

    https://www.daz3d.com/atmosphere-volume-1--dramatic-render-settings

rendered scene again, but the rendered image was always the same.

What settings for the scene have you used here?

Are you using Sun and Sky mode and changing date and time to get different skies?

I clicked on the presets I named (Crisp for the first render and Winter Morning for the second one). I just changed the dome rotation and disabled the ground fog. It should change to Sun and Sky mode automatically but who knows what bug could mess thing up, so that's why I spoke about it.

The date and various settings all changed automatically when I clicked on the render settings (I used the time and date to get the name of the first setting I used, because I did it yesterday and didn't remember which it was).

the render settings should indeed change to sun sky only not sure why they would not do that - you may be right and there is a bug. if your are still getting this problem try changin the to sun sky only before applying the render settings preset.

These render settings wont work as intended with an hdri map, they are sun sky only settings, and should automatically change to that as part of the preset. If you then add in an hdri you will loose most of the settings in the render settings preset as hdri does not use a sun, time of day or latitude and longditude which are all used in this set.

One does not use an HDRI with this product, it uses Sun-Sky.

It works for me. Empty scene, double-click a preset and the Tonemapper\Environment Options gets created.

They work as intended on my computer.

I was just suggesting a possible problem explaining why Artini may not see any differences after loading a new preset.

I suspect that youll find the dome rotation will work or at least be set by the render setting preset, as will the atmospheric fog and i think ground fog. Most of the other things will not.

Personally i much prefer working in the sun sky only sand box as it gives you much more precise control over what you are doing, and placement of clouds and mist etc. Unless you need a backgrund image it , for me, produces a much more realistic result which i find easier to tweak to my desired look.

I am realeasing another set of this type of setting, the sun sky is i think a much better way of getting the best out of the ultrascebnery shaders and textures, ill also be releasing a set of render setting tweaks too, that will rotate the dome, change shadow intencity and sharpness and adjust the ground fog independently of of the overall look of your render settings. im going to bundle these two sets togehtor then.

I love working with sun/sky, for the same reasons MartinJ posted, so am really happy about new sets in this area! Pictures look gorgeous, to be sure.

  • Just going to leave this here.... and hint that you might want to check out the store in the morning.......

    Martin,

I'm intrigued. Is this something that's going to give my credit card apoplexy?

    Cheers,

    Alex.
