Ideal camera settings for character creation (no distortion/fisheye)

What camera settings do you use to sculpt a character's face? When going in too close with the camera you get a fisheye effect that makes it hard to accurately see the shape. When the camera is too far away as I zoom in with the focal length, I feel like the width of the head gets exaggerated.

Is there a goldilocks zone in terms of camera distance from the face and min/max focal length of the camera to get the most accurate view of the model?

100mm is a good general setting

It's largely personal preference, but i typically like between 130-150 focal length

Here's a quick visal guide. It's worth noting that the chin and top of the head are in the exact same place with ever picture. Another notable thing is that that rectangle is behind each and every one of them, but because of the focal length difference, you can see it at 40

Thank you so much for this! This is really helpful. After looking at it for a while I think 100-150 is the safest range, but I agree with you that 130 seems to be the sweet spot, especially looking at the nose and how much of the hair on the side of the head is visible.
