4.9 Cannont find V7 Wearables once saved

I just downloaded Daz 4.9 and I edited some of the clothing on V7 while fitted to her and saved it as a wearble. In 4.8, it would appear in the unassigned category and I would be able to apply it once I had a V7 character selected, however, now when I select her it doesn't appear. I went to the mapped unassigned folder and it isn't there even though it is in my studio folder where the files are always saved. Any ideas?

  • So I ran a test and created a quick scene, saved it and tried to open it. The new scene doesn't show up in the unassigned folder as well so it's not just wearables. It is everything. My old scenes and content are there but anything new doesn't appear. Same deal in the mapped folder under content library. Is there a setting that I'm missing? Any help would be appreciated

I have not saved preset (wearable) in ds 4.9 ,but tested with scene or subset already.

then As you said, in ds 4.9 DAZ change ,new saved file not categorized as Unussigned I think.

but these new saved files should be  grouped as new Local_User product.

my current way to serch saved files(if you do not remember clear, where you saved the file as file path,,,and actually I often lost,,about my saved scene path, or scene name,,)

go to smart content>Files  then "check off, Filter by context" (then now you need NOT to think about compatibility etc)

then sort by Last up-date, or Created files. order.

or in Content library>product>Local_User, then R-click on the product name, >show in smart content.

now it show all files of Local_User (product), then sort as same as above.

(anyway, if you hope to use smart content, to serch saved files, you may better categorize them, untill you forget the file path)

maybe I think, there should be more smart way, but the best way for me  is just save the file with clean

    original  arranged directory for you,

then remember the path  in content library. I think. I now make directory only for my saved file, then make sub directory for each projects

(in the project,  scene, subset, preset,, I made, then I can remember, which preset saved there without category)

  • Thank you for your response Kitakoredaz! I tried everything you said and the issue seems to be that daz isn't recognizing or even listing the new saved files anywhere. My old files are recognized but the new ones, even though they are in the same studio folder as my old files, aren't imported into the program. Even if I do a search in content, they don't appear. Same with the Local_User product. I wonder if it has to do with the preferences and what folders are selected for the data to be imported.

I feel,, if you select some category, when you serch items?  now it has no category, then if you select category,

and serch items it may not work,,, (then I need select "all")

    but sorry, if you have tested already. I do not know what will happen about this 4.9 with user-saved files with each user case at all^^;

(I do not think, current smart-content is smart for serching user-saved files, then maybe DAZ will change it again for usability,, maybe)

Anyway,, only saved files in another version keep categorized as un-assigned actually annoying  me too.

(and new Local_User product,,I do not like it al all,, ^^;)  but  I have already complainged too many,, in daz studio forum, then now I decide,, just play with ds 4.9 as same as before,, )

  • Thank you for trying to help me Kitakoredaz. I ended up going to preferences-->Content Library-->Content Directory Manager and adding the pathway to the DazStudio4 Folder under Daz Studio Formats. This enabled me to find the new saved scene fiiles in the Content Libray Tab. I noticed that if I try to categorize it into the unassigned section, it won't do it which is odd. Anyway, I found the files and am now able to access them in a roundabout way in Daz 4.9 now. They just don't appear in the smart content tab under "unassigned" anymore like they used to be in 4.8 and before. Not sure if this was intended by Daz or not, or if anybody else has had this issue.

I believe it's now called "Saved Scenes", but it only adds them there if you save it to a known content folder.  If you scan for new content after adding the folder to Daz Studio Formats it will put them in Scan Results.

You're correct. I saved a test scene into a folder that my content library was linked to and it automatically set up a new category in the smart content tab called "saved files." Thank you! This solves the problem. I will simply go through and re-save all of my files so they will appear in the saved files section in the smart content tab--unless there is an easier way. Scanning new content didn't seem to do it. Also, I had to "uncheck filter by context" to see the "saved files" option.

I see. , it is "saved files"  last category, in smart content , now I can find it. thank you.smiley

I use content DB editor, then anyway, move all "un-assgined" (saved in ds 4.8 , and old version) files to the "saved files" category.

fortunately, as for me, most of files in un-assigned are, "set" or "scene" type, then re-categorized as same as saved files.

about presets in Unussgined category, maybe I need , once saved each type (material preset,  wearable etc,,) then,

ds may auto make these cateogry by saved file type, after that, I translate there.by content DB editor. (sort with file type, or manually)

One problem I  found is, some daz product files (pre-load scene and prop) seems to be assgined as set.of saved files.

I do not know, it  caused by me, (I saved the product pre-load scene or prop, without intention as same name before< or the product pre-load files, is already assigned so.  I may remove them from the catgory,,

(it seems the meta-data record it already,,, I think)

Yeah I am still playing with it. To have the "prop" or "Material" sign over some of the presets in the "saved files" section, I had to re-save them which automatically placed them in the "Saved Files" category as well. I re-imported the metadata to see if that made a difference in regards to my saved files but I don't think it did. I have noticed some of the presets outside of my saved files are not where they should be in the smart content tab, and in some cases they don't show up. This isn't such a big issue for me but it is a little annoying because now I have to find them in the mapped folders and work to re-assign them.
