Layout + custom action problems

This is a recent problem that occurs to me occasionally:
Out of blue my daz studio loads with a messed up layout, like missing toolbar, missing scripts/favorites dropdowns and when I reactivate the layout I use (one of the default ones) it loads with empty scripts dropdown.
customactions.dsx is still where it supposed to be and it's full of my old custom actions but daz doesn't see them. When i try to readd the old custom actions to the dropdown, at least it adds, thankfully but it's complaining that the custom action is already there and It's annoying to do it one by one. Is there a way to restore all of my custom actions in an easier and quicker way?
Comments
If the path to the custom actions files chnages, even if the relative path iss till correct within a content directory, the custom action will not be found. This is an exception to the general rule about DS using relative paths where possible - I am not sure why it is implemented that way.
Okay, experimented a bit and realized osmething: ff I change the layout in the workspace/select a layout menu it erases my custom actions from the dropdown, even if I switch back to the previous layout.
It's sad but at least resolved, dunno if old custom actions can be retrieved tho..
So there is only one issue, why did my Daz reset its layout spontaneously?
I didn't change any of those files the only major thing that happened on my computer since the last time I used Daz, that there was a windows update.
Also just realized that there is a technical issues section on the forums, sorry for misplacing this discussion. :(
Custom actions, unlike most things, are stored with absoslute paths - starting from the drive indentifier - so a chnage to that would disable the affected ones. That said, we have had two or three people today reporting layout issues - DS hasn't changed, but I wonder if a Windows update is playing hob (e.g. forcing OneDrive again, even when the user had opted out or chnaging the way in which identifiers are assigned to external drives) or if there is a security application update driving the problems.
My layouts have been bouncing around since I switched to win 10 and 423. I use two monitors and it will shove the panes off the second monitor or resize them etc.
But it resets to my saved layout if I choose it again under layouts
And yesterday I noticed they move when a render is started.
In fact the log file shows a load layout from file at the end of the render report (which suggests that the render engine does something to it when it starts). Which doesn't seem to work well. Because in general I have to do the manual reset by rechoosing my saved layout which will work until the next render.
Well, yes - if you load the layout it gets applied - that is what you are telling it to do.
What exactly is the log file saying?
at the end of a render it looks like this

The problem is the panes get dumped off the second monitor
If I go into window>workspace>select layout and reselect 'win102monitor11-2024v2.dsx'
It reloads it and everything is back where I started
screen capture software won't span both monitors
so first image is number 2 and it's to my left and number one is the main one.
But I used a 3 monitor set up for ages on the win 7 machine and no issues and no issues like this.
That isnt something rendering does by default, so it seems likely it is a plug-in or script. Are you using any tools other than the default Daz Studio to manage your rendering?'
nope... as vanilla as possible.. if stuf is working I never change it.
But I have noticed that when the render starts the panes/windows start resizing etc
Whereas before the render window simply opened on top and the windows underneath didn't change.
But the viewport will contract horiztonatally then spread out again and the render window tends to not spread as wide as it used to.
And my panes tabs which have been on top forever -- (I started on macs before pcs and still use dropdown as opposed to popup) will be moved to the botton of the panel and since the menu to move them from location to location is on the bottom it can't drop far enough to show the option so you have to shorten the window to access the space.
set of screen shots in order
1) scene file I saved
close daz ... reopen daz
2) opening startup scene
then we select open recent and choose the train file to open
3) what daz opens to.
---
window>workspace>chooselayout>and pick the one the startup scene used (and the one the saved file was set to)
and it's back to number 1 the panes arranged over both monitors in the place there'd supposed to be at.
