Gett lot's of errors when loading an item

I downloaded the installed and installed whatever came with it, and all the free items.

I noticed that I getting tons of errors when loading Victoria 5  I think it was.

Cannot find item ........ etc.

Do I need to purchase the phycial model Vitoria 5?   If so  where can I find those?

I only seems to find complete packages for $199 etc.

Thank you

To have, and use Victoria 5 you will need to have installed: Daz Studio itself (kind of obvious, but let's be inclusive!), the Genesis Start Essentials (brings in Base Male and Female, from which Victoria 5 is 'created' via morphs), and, of course Victoria 5 herself.

If you have everything installed check that the location the content (the Starter Essentials and Victoria 5) was installed into is listed as a content location under Preferences (Edit> Preferences form within Daz Studio, or press F2), then checking the Content Library 'tab' and the Content Directory Manager butotn, and expanding teh two Daz content lists (Connect and Studio Formats).

  • I'll have to check tonight when i get home.

I don't know about Victoria 5  as a part of the downloads. She does show up under the female models,

but then I get a bunch of errors.

  • cut  a bunch of lines...  but you will get the idea

  • I did uninstall everything and did install Daz 3D only   so everything was grey in the content Lib.

So I doubleclicked to install,   but they also still showed up in the install manager (???)  So I had to download it twice?

Really confused that that part as well.

I see you have DS 4.9 - how are you downloading/installing the products, via DIM (external program) or via Connect (within DS)?

  • The 1st time  I did it through DIM

    Errrors....

    Uninstalled everything

Re-installed Daz 3d 4.9 through DIM,  and then everything within  Daz3d  (when an item was gray,  I double clicked on it, and it would download)

    still errors

Checked DIM, and the files are still showing there "ready for download"  so i downloaded there again

    Still errors.

That's why it makes me wonder,  if those basic essentials  needed the original dolls (or whatever you call them).    I see several Michaels etc as well

or is everything based of those 2 plain models ?

  • So,   http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-5    is already included with the Free Download of Daz 4.9 atm ?

  • SimonJMSimonJM Posts: 5,980

DIM and Connect don't really (so far as I know) talk to each other, so Connect doesn't really know an item is installed via DIM, thus you can get (as you seem to have) duplicates (including downloading twice!).  It's probably best if you opt to use just one or the other.  Of course, you cannot use Connect to install DS (a bit chicken and egg!  But you may be able to upgrade DS with it, once DS is installed - I don't know as I don't, for my own reasons, use Connect).

I hate saying it, but it may be worth uninstalling all the content (again!) and then picking either Connect or DIM to re-install your content with.  Just (whichever method you decide to use) start with the basics: Genesis Starter Essentials and see what that gives you.  There may be a Default Lights and Shaders product to install too.  You shoudl get basic textures for the base Genesis figures, both male and female.  Once we have you with that, we can start working on bringing in other stuff.

Not to get too confusing, but Michael 4 and Victoria 4.2 are separate figures, Michael 5 and Victoria 5 are 'extensions' of Genesis and Michael and Victoria 6 are extensions of the base Genesis 2 (Male and Female) figures, likewise M7 and V7 from G3M and F.

  • looks like only

    - Genesis Starter Essentials
    - Genesis 2 Starter Essentials

    came with it

  • OK,  I think you just gave me my answer as well

"Not to get too confusing, but Michael 4 and Victoria 4.2 are separate figures, Michael 5 and Victoria 5 are 'extensions' of Genesis and Michael and Victoria 6 are extensions of the base Genesis 2 (Male and Female) figures, likewise M7 and V7 from G3M and F."

so I need to buy those figures..

    Michael 4 and Victoria 4.2

    so http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-5   i don't really need then

  • So I need to buy

    http://www.daz3d.com/michael-4-complete

    http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-2-complete

    but don't need to buy

    http://www.daz3d.com/michael-7   since it's a Genesis model

    and

http://www.daz3d.com/michael-6   is also a Genesis Model.

If I I want to buy items that is for Michael 6 or 7,  then I do need to buy them.

    Am I correct?

You don't need to buy Michael and Victoria 4.

With DS (as separate installs) come Genesis, Genesis 2 and Genesis 3.  As Michael 6 and 7 (as well as Victoria 6 and 7) and based on the G2 and G3 figures anything FOR Michael 6 or 7 will work on the respective base figures (via auto-fit for clothes and hair).  If you want the SHAPE of Michael (or Victoria) (6 or 7) you can get those products (which come with additional textures I think), or a Bundle (Starter or Pro) that includes them (as well as additional products for them).

  • But if I want to buy items for Victoria 4.2 etc...  Then I need her right?

If i look at some of the items,  they state that Victoria 4 is required.

That depends...if it is a morph, then most likely, altough morphs can be transfered to Genesis and Genesis 2 with the proper add-ons.  If it's clothing...then it can be transferred (with varying degrees of success/fidelity) to Genesis/Genesis2 with the included functions of Studio.  If it is textures/skins, then Genesis can use them right out of the box.

  • ok...  very confusing all if it...

Sorry for the many questions and posts that I am opening.

Just want some things straight before I jump to become a member and buy a bunch of stuff

  • SimonJMSimonJM Posts: 5,980

To be honest I'd keep with the free base figures (the various flavours of Genesis) and work with those.  Stuff for V4 (and M4) can, usually, be used to good effect on/with Genesis.
