Splitting Content Directories - Impact on Existing Scenes

Hello, my apologies if this is a dumb question.

I purchase most of my assets from the Daz store, but own a few third party assets as well. I originally installed these third party assets manually within my main Daz library, and everything has worked fine. I am on Mac, so this seems to take a bit more time than PC, but nothing too problematic.

After reading up, I've decided it's likely best if I split my third party content into its own directory. I have already prepared a "Third Party Content" file, where I've manually copied all the proper files (everything is organized under "data," "people", "runtime" etc. directly within the folder). As I understand it, the next step is for me to go into my main Daz library, delete all of these third party files, and then go into Daz and direct it to "Third Party Content" as an additional location for my assets (I've watched a youtube video on that part and it seems straightforward enough).

My main question is: If I carry this out correctly, will it mess up any of my existing scenes that use the third party content? Or will having the same assets now available under my second "Third Party Content" directory allow Daz to recognize everything? Also, if my proposed approach of using a second directory for third party content is problematic in general, I'd appreciate any input on that point.

I am only a hobbyist, so it's not the end of the world if I mess up a scene. But if there's a risk, I'd likely finish off my current projects before completing the directory update.

Thanks.

Your existing scenes will be fine, as long as the content directories were set up correctly, because daz Studio stores only the location within the content directory (starting with data, Runtime etc.) and not the location of the content directory itself. When it loads a file it tries the relative path appended to each content diectory in turn until it gets hit - obviously with a lot of directories that can slow loading of files in the later ones, but a couple will not cause issues.
