Dark Skin + Iray too shiny/plastic

Hi,

after reading through several Iray guides and installing lights, render settings and all that, i was wondering why I can't get Shaneka HD for Monique to work.

I set up an IRAY light, use the material Iray Uber base and then the Feminine Iray skin shader, which usually gives me perfect renders, but not so with dark skin and especially Shaneka.

Any idea what i have to change?

  • There's so many things that have to be tweeked when using dark skin in Iray. It usually that glossy setting. Since I'm no expert I rely on the experts to get the skin looking right. I don't know what shader you are using but I reccomend Iray Smart Converter and Advanced Skin Managers for Genesis 2. http://www.daz3d.com/iray-smart-converter-and-advanced-skin-managers-for-genesis-2 Also lighting for dark skin is tricky so you'll have to play around.  I also love "done for you" lighting tools so try IG, Sveva, or OOT lights that have a lot of options that you can mix and match.

Like real world photography, the fact is each skin tone has different challenges and requirements. There can't be a simple one size fits all solution.

Thanks a lot for your feedback. And you are right, lights are fundamental in rendering, there are really nice lights sets on the shop!
