Can't login to Iray Server in Home Network via DAZ

Hello!
I installed Iray Server on another machine in my network. I can log into the web interface from another machine. But when I try to connect to it via DAZ or try to add something to the que, DAZ says " The connection Failed. Please check the Server Adress". I unchecked the secure option.
Why can't I connect to the Iray Server via DAZ?

Thanks in Advance!

  • Which OS?

    Which port are you using?

Can you log into the server from the machine running DAZ?

Both machines run on windows. I can log into the web interface from the machine that runs the server and on any other pc in my network. I'm using port 9090. I also tried open the ports in my router and in the windows firewall, latter on both machines.

IIRC the default install of Iray server has the queue disabled. When you log into the web interface does it show "Awaiting Jobs" on the queue tab? If it is running, then on the Resources tab what happens if you add the cornell_box to the queue?

On the web interface, I can add the cornell_box to the queue and start it. The problem is, that I can't even login/connect to the server through DAZ. So I couldn't add something to the queue if I wanted to. If I click connect in DAZ, it says, that a connection is not possible and I should check the server adress. As I said in the beginning, I use the same IP, same Port and same login as for the web interface. That all works, but not through DAZ...

  • What is the type of connection - Public, Work, or Private?

The Network is in my home, so it's private. My personal machine still has a GTX1080 and the mobile workstation from my workplace has a RTX4080. I want to use this power to render, but don't want all my DAZ Content on that machine that is used at my workplace (even though I "own" that workstation). But it doesn't have any Company "Image" on it. I have full admin rights - it's a totaly normal Laptop you can buy "everywhere".

  • Alas I don't know Windows security very well so, at this point, my only suggestion would be to look and see if there is any setting that may control which applications are permitted to make an outbound connection (Something like this was recently introduced on MacOS).

At this point I also don't know anymore. Checked everything in the firewall settings. No rules for DAZ there. So I will just put my DAZ content on a external hard drive and work with that. Too bad... would be nice to work on my machine and load off the work to the server...

  • For grins and testing you could instal the Iray server on your local machine and see if it works with 127.0.0.1:9090 and / or the local IP assigned to your device. Another thought ... is everything being done over wifi? or do you have a local hardwired network or both?

Perhaps give these a try :

Everything that runs an OS (except mobile phones) is connected via ethernet in my network.
It connects to the local host... so I don't know why it won't connect to the server that runs on my workstation

    Okay...
I don't know why, but suddenly it works!

    Things I've done:

I switched accounts in DAZ Studio (I have two)
Logged into the Server that runs on my local host: It worked
Deactivated the firewall for private network on my Workstation: It connected and I was able to render the queue!
Reactivated the firewall for private network on my Workstation: It still is able to connect!

So I don't know what happened in the last 48 hours ... I think this all falls into the category "Quirks in microsoft networks"... (maybe I should install Mint on my Workstation just in case)

Nonetheless: Thank you for your help!
