I am inviting all of you to participate in this 2024 Christmas Caper Contest which consists of three categories. If you have any questions, thoughts, or concerns, post them here. The contest start date is 2024-12-10 the end date is 2024-12-23, see rules for exact time.

The jest of the contest is: I upload three images, one per category, and to participate you just need to indicate which one out of the three categories you are choosing to participate in, and then do your best to guess the assets used in the render. You only get one post and are not allowed to edit it. The images will be spreads from a picture book created using DAZ assets.

Some of you are really good at identifying assets used in promo renders, so I am expecting some winners.

AS a quick FYI, there will be three categories, each with a unique rendered scene, requiring identification of every asset used in the render, but you only get to participate in one category, and you only get a chance to post once in the official contest entry thread, Your official entry post must be unedited to qualify for the contest. In an effort to keep this as fair as possible, in the official entry thread, any edited posts will be deemed disqualified and if you post more than once you will be disqualified as a contestant. Post questions and comments here as often as you want.

PARTICIPANTS:

  • Participants must be logged in to your DAZ Forum account to participate in the 2024 Christmas Caper Contest.
  • Participants must be an individual who has joined DAZ on or before December 1st 2024.
  • Anonymous or Guest Posts will not be reviewed or eligible for any prizes.
  • Participants who post in the official entry forum, must post your specific category choice as a heading in your official entry post.
  • Participants who post in the official entry forum must post a precise list of assets including a sku number and link to each listed asset. If you mess up on the link or accidently omit it do not correct it. Do not edit the post. Your title of the listed asset will overide any link should the two differ.
  • Particpants must abide by DAZ  TOS. No profanity etc.
  • Particpants do not exclude PA's or DAZ moderators, providing they do not edit their official entry posts.

 

RULES:

  1. The contest has three entry categories. You may only enter one of them, so chose your entry category wisely.
  2. Edited posts will be disqualified. It wouldn't be fair to steal someone else's answers.
  3. The first post within a category, with the correct answers for that category list of assets, wins. Waiting too long may not be a wise move.
  4. Winners will be announced and rewarded on Christmas Eve 2024.
  5. There will be a maximum of one winner per category.
  6. Contest closes on December 23rd 2024  at midnight DAZ (Utah) Tuesday, 24 Dec 2024 07:00:00 UTC.
  7. If there are no participants within a category, there won't be a winner for that category.
  8. If there are participants within a category, but nobody guesses all assets used, meaning there is no true winner, there will be a consolation prize for whoever first correctly posted the most assets used and came closest to the correct number.

ASSET EXCLUSIONS:

Assets such as DAZ Studio Software, and default resources included with DAZ Studio Software, despite their amazing value, do not count as an acceptable listed asset. An example of a default software included resource that does not count in this contest, would be DTHDR-RuinsB-500.hdr, or Genesis base female/male/dev characters. These are not standalone products. Do not list bundles as a product used. But do list a product (can be one or more) within a bundle providing each has its own individual sku llisted beside the title. 

CATEGORIES:

1st category is All Assets. Winner must guess all assets used in a two page (double spread).

2nd category is All Prop Assets. Winner must guess all prop assets used in a one page spread.

3rd category is All Character Assets. Winner must guess all character assets used in a one page spread.

If there are no winners within a category, and there are participants in all categories, there will be consolation prizes.

So each category, should have one gift card recipient.

 

PRIZES:

(for the person first correctly guessing all of the assets used in a category)

  1. Prize for 1st category (all assets) is a $100.00 DAZ gift card (limited to one)
  2. Prize for 2nd category (all prop assets) is a $50.00 DAZ gift card (limited to one)
  3. Prize for 3rd category (all character assets) is a $25.00 DAZ gift card (limited to one)
  4. If no participants  exists for a category, the offer for that category is null and void.

 

CONSOLATION PRIZES:

(for each category where there is no true winner a consolation prize will be given in lieu of a winners prize)

  1. Consolation prize for 1st category (if no winner) is a $50.00 DAZ gift card (limited to one)
  2. Consolation prize for 2nd category (if no winner) is a $25.00 DAZ gift card (limited to one)
  3. Consolation prize for 1st category (if no winner) is a $15.00 DAZ gift card (limited to one)
  4. If no participants exists for a category, the offer for that category is null and void

UPDATES and ADDENDUM to Rules HERE:

Rule 4 above only addresses Winners awards date, Adding Rule 9 to address consolation prize awards date,

9. Consolation prizes, if applicable, will be announced and awarded on or before January 1st 2025, depending on how many responses there are to go through, to determine who posted the highest count of correct products first.

For Clarity, All Assets means a product sku. If I had a scene with multiple items and used the box from A Curious Christmas  3 times with 3 different textures that are included with that product, and also used the fumes/fog and the creature lurking in a corner outside of the box, that would equal 1 item. 1 item (excludes bundles) but equals 1 SKU. So the count of total items should match the total number of SKU's used. If I used fog textures from Jurassic FX for the fog then that would count as a second item.

    Fonts are excluded and do not count, as those used were not a DAZ asset. 

    My custom textures are excluded and do not count, as they are not a DAZ asset.

    I am using Content Gatherer to create the list of used products for each page spread but there are things listed that will not be consider product assets. For example if I made custom textures, that is not an asset one can purchase so it is irrelevant to this contest. However the asset I made the custom textures for is a relevant and valid entry.

    Just wanted to let you know that I'm doing my best to figure out the prop category!!!  I don't have a lot of time at once to work on it, but I've got a little chart and a copy of the picture that I'm crossing items out on when I find them.  I think this is a really cool contest, and it's extremely generous of you ^_^  Hoping that more people will see this and join in the fun!

    Argh, I'm stuck!  I think I've found them all except one.  I've found the bundle that I think it's from, but I can't find the actual item.  I'm wondering if possibly it comes in a product that maybe doesn't explicitly list it in the item list?  I've found two different products that show it in the main promo, so I'm pretty sure I've identified it.
