Texture Preferences

Just a quick question. I really love the netflix show Arcane. The question is would anyone be interested in props with that style of Texture Map? An approximation of course nothing is perfect and everyone has their own take on things. Okay Thanks!

Attached is a prop with my normal style of maps and one with a more Aracneish one.

I love the show Arcane too, though I haven't seen the second season. I wouldn't mind having the option, but I wouldn't want to exchange it for your usual brilliance.

Thanks! That makes sense, and I would do it for some sets if I thought/find out, enough people would want it.

More Art Nouveau and florid, the better!

I get that! I find the lower levels the most interesting but I am a fan of DeadTech.

This may not be the greatest idea, but what if you created a theme by using blue but adding the orange/rust to the mix, like you did for Forgotten Factory The Roamer Bot   The G2 Raven?

Yeah, I would need to dial back some things for sure and still use natural local colors even though some things could be jazzy. It would have more of a painted texture. I guess that is the best way to say it. Still in the experimental stages.

Sorry to hear about Lou, not sure if you knew her but being both of you are cover artists, well anyway  it's sad.

  • I like the standard, even though I love Arcane. A bit of both could also work. Or maybe something like a GeoShell "fun" layer.

GOM do you think a GeoShell would be a better way to go for that? I haven't done anything with them so I am really asking and not being snarky. ; )=

I remember you did a really nice character and painted look sometime back.

Didn't know her just in passing in the forums, and I only do covers for my books so I don't venture into those circles. Anyhow I love your work and would love to see you do a new deadish dystopian theme, something that has addons akin to a series so to speak. I haave 40k items in Dim Downloads but one of my favs is Deadwater. I bought them back in 2019  to to use in a book I am working on. and hope to publish in 2025.

Wow you write as well! That's fantastic.

Thanks, I keep looking back at the "never was" series, always wanting to return.

I have no clue what Arcane is, but I own every Never Was set you have made. Would love more. Just saying I respect your style.

It's a tv series, apparently a pretty good one from what I heard about it:

Don't know that show but an image search shows me painterly textures, is that what you mean?

In which case, yes but FilaToon compatible please!

Vicky & co need places to hang out, and the backgrounds in classic animations (as well as many contemporary cell-shaded games) are painterly.

If you can get it to look right, then a geoshell might be a very interesting solution, as it could allow you to have a different version (like something in a more prestine condition) on the object. There's always interest in objects being able to switch between different conditions of wear, tear and dirt. Many people use Daz for illustrating stories, which means scenes might be used for different moments in a timeline.

Arcane is a very beautiful work of art. I was blown away by the look and effects in the show. It's a very particular toon style of CGI, though. It might be kind of limiting if the base textures are styled that way. It might work better for an alternative option or texture add-on maybe.

Thanks everyone for the input, good stuff. So this sort of texture as an add on would be the way to go.

Since I don't due much with the toon rendering function can you apply toon shading to normal non toon props? I know it is a PC only fearture and I own a PC but mostly work on a Mac.

  • I have ideas for Geoshell use and that can be a way to go for a lot of things.
