Alpha's

I'm likely just plain dumb or something, but how do I apply an alpha mask to the textures on the daz models.

I ask because I whish to the Gen 3 model with the gen 2's creature legs and while I have managed to fit them on I don't know how to hid the bottom of the thighs like it would on a gen 2 model

any help would be welcomed

  • Individual body parts can be hidden by clicking the eye in the Scene pane, assuming this is Daz Studio, or by selecting all the parts and using the Visible button in the Parameters pane. In the Surfaces pane a transparency map can be applied  to Opacity (most 3Delight shaders) or Cutout opacity (Iray Uber Shader) - but note that the Genesis 3 UVs do not match any of the Genesis 2 UVs.

  • Huh I didn't know you could add a transparency map or a cutout opacity.

And I did no that the two had different UV's, but thanks for the info I'll have to try and experiment with these maps and try to figure out why my grey skin turns a shade of red when I render the thing

  • ok after a little playing around it comes to mind that I have no clue what I'm doing, so could someone point me in the direction of a nice guide to help me out on how to make opacancy cutout maps

  • Using the UV template as a guide (or a copy of a texture, but remember you can't share that), paint the areas you want to be invisible black and the areas you want to be visible white.

well I really am a morron, I thought it was the other way around, thank you very much I had a few projects that looked wrong because of the model mash up but this should help clean them up.

    Again thank you very much
