Using clothing from one Genesis to another.

It seems that I can use a lower Genesis to save as a prop asset for a higher genesis but not the other way around.

I can use G2 clohing for G3 and G8. I can use G3 for G8. But I can't use G8 for G3. If I do, it still rxplodes the size.

Auto Fit always works in the cases of fitting G8 wearables on G3 on my side. Better give an example ~~

I collect all of the "Clone" products which is often what is needed for fitting newer generation clothing to earlier figures - like these, for example:

    https://www.daz3d.com/mmx-genesis-9-clones-for-all

    https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-3-female-for-genesis-2-female-s

    https://www.daz3d.com/wear-them-all-autofit-clones-expansion-for-genesis-3-male-s-and-genesis-3-female-s

Some are for getting older pre-Genesis 1 clothing onto more modern figures as well, which is excellent because some of the V4/M4, Aiko 3, Michael 3, etc., clothing is really great!

There are ways to do this for free, and possibly some free options, but I just buy these and install them. Saves me headaches and I get excellent results

Auto fit works but explodes the size of the saved file. What I was trying to say is that if I use older clothing to newer characters, the size remains small. But when I use auto fit or newer stuff to older characters the file size becomes huge.

Ah, I got what you mean ~~ Yes, Auto Fit converts the geometry of the wearables that will be saved within the scene file if you don't save the converted ones as Figure Assets.

However, the root cause of the cases you have should be :

If you use older wearables on latest Genesis: as the geometry data of older wearables, let's say G1 ~ G3..., are usually not big. Then even if you save the converted ones within the scene file, you don't see significant file size increasing.

But if you use newer wearables on older Genesis: as the geometry data of newer wearables are usually bigger, so you may get the bigger file size. I believe simple tests will prove that.

So, better save the converted wearables as Figure Assets if the file size is really huge...
