genesis 9?

I know i have genesis 9 and I have seen it flash by sometimes when i was searching for something. But now, curiously, i cannot find it, and I just bought 2 cartoon figures for gen 9, and installed them, and cannot find them either. Is this a "conspiracY"?

"Genesis 9" doesn't appear under there while on the Files tab - instead look for: Fabrice for Genesis 9, Matt for Genesis 9 or Ty for Genesis 9. Those are the items you will see from the "Genesis 9 Starter Essentials" under that catagory - the Genesis 9 base item is just under Figures->People since it's unisex and needs morphs to turn it Male or Female.

Also, any toon figures you have brought SHOULD be under "Stylized" not "Real World" if they are correctly tagged and so look for those there.

  • If you switch to the Products tab in that pane and type Starter in the filter box does Gensis 9 Starter Essentials appear?

The quickest way is to always filter Product(s) under Products tab as Richard mentioned, then drill down to the preset files ~~

Ok dondraw Don't be dramatic, using big letters in your post gives the impression your are shouting out loud, use normal text.

I just came here because I need to relax for a moment, I have some renders to do for Christmas time, I will resume in a moment later.

Now I will give an idea how is my setup.

I am using Content Library instead of the useless Smart Content.

With this I can know which Daz Assets are needed to work with.

In the screenshot you will see one with the Genesis 9, mine has extra icons for Male and Female Characters when these are needed to create from scratch.

This nifty add-on for Daz Studio is free, get it from:

    https://www.renderosity.com/freestuff/items/93451/insta-load-genders-female-and-male-for-genesis-9-g9-in-daz-studio

Locate the characters, it does not matter if that is Genesis 1, 2, 3, 8 or 9, you will see Thumnails of the respective Characters you have bought from the Store or got free here and other places. just select it and double click to load it.

I know how very hard is when some people start using Daz Studio, take your time to learn and use it.

Have patience, you will accomplish many things, so I wish you luck with whatever you do, experiment with what you have, don't worry give it your all!

thanks for the advice, Halcon. FYI, i used the Heading 2 text because to my weary eyeight, Normal looked like the label manufacturers put on their packaging to bewilder shoppers: too small. But i'll learn, because the text of you and others here isn't that hard to read.

And I discovered i didn't have the LAT version of DIM and my new purchases wouldn't install without it! Read everything! all the time!

    ctrl+scroll to zoom ...

  • You are welcome dondraw!

My eyesight is not very well too, but I have increased the screen fonts to a better size in Windows 11.

I use a 43" monitor, which is big enough to see everything.

However a proper size should around 38" enough to have an eye level view, curved monitors are useless and a waste of money, it has to be flat screen, because this is suitable for graphics and the occasional gaming.

dondraw To zoom in the webpage, hold down the Ctrl key on the keyboard and press the + symbol key on the keboard Numeric pad, to Zoom out hold down the Ctrl key and press the 0 (Zero) key on the keyboard.

My monitor supports a native resolution of 3840 x 2160 px.

You should get a monitor comfortable for your eyes, without breaking the bank balance.

As an alternative to the two ways of zooming already posted you can also set a minimum font-size in your browser. Below, is the settings for this in Firefox but all modern browsers will have something similar.

This would have the effect of making smaller text bigger but leaving text that is already big enough the same size. Zooming may still work better for you but it's always good to know the options.

To bring it back on topic:

Yes, this is because the Genesis 9 Starter Essentials does not have a clickable asset for the male figure - you need to load the unisex figure from Figures->People and then dial in the Male/Masculine morph. This is presumably what the freebie product that Halcon Bluesky posted above does and so you can grab that if you need to do this often.

Unfortunately, I don't own the "Cartoon Adult Male Character, Hair, and Outfit for Genesis 9" product and so cannot see it's metadata but it should appear in the Figures->People->Male->Stylised section that you posted and so hopefully it is there now that you have sorted your DIM issue.

dondraw The "Cartoon Adult Male Character, Hair, and Outfit for Genesis 9" Should be already there, look under Genesis 9 Toon, remember to click the arrow and you will see what you have installed with the corresponding thumbnail.

Unfortunately I don't own any of the Cartoon models as these are expensive.
