'Show in Mapped Folder' ?

Is it just me ? Or is this no longer working in 4.9 ? I've never had a problem with it in 4.8 but I noticed a couple of days ago that after doing a search for items I right click the item that might suite what I'm looking for to get stright to it's home.... or that's what it used to do. Now it seems that nothing has a 'mapped folder' because issuing that instruction now does nothing at all and I'm just stuck with my search menu.

I'm not sure how long it's been this way because I only really noticed a few days ago and now after several re-boots it still won't work. Is this a general problem for all or is there something wrong at my end please ?

Thank you.....

  • Is the content you are right-clicking on something you installed via connect? That won't appear in a mapped folder, so the command won't do anything.

No Richard, I don't think it is, as far as I'm aware I don't use 'connect', I still use Download Manager when I buy products from the store, plus of course manual install fro stuff I buy from Renderosity etc.

It's not limited to one or even just a few items that show in my search either mate, it seems to be every single thing that shows up.

  • Is this the release version or the beta for 4.9?

I have both but the one I use mainly and the one I'm having this probelm with is the upgrade to 4.8 which came via Install Manager.

  • Does it also happen in the current beta, assuming you have that (there's a newer version than the release build out)?

Noticed this same problem today :(

  • If 'Mapped folder' doesn't work then try using 'Products' instead. Both often do the same thing: showing you the other (extra) files which were installed by the package. When using Connect then browsing the product contents has more or less the same effect.

Having the exact same issue.  Definitely a feature I'm badly missing since the update.

  • Yeah, this doesn't work for me either.  This needs to be fixed, like, yesterday.  There is absolutely no way I can navigate my content without this feature.

Exactly one month later, this still isn't working for me.  When I upgraded to 4.9, the content manager lumped all of my content from renderosity and elsewhere into one product called "Local User."  Some of my custom products I had set up still show in the menu, but are devoid of content, which was moved to "Local User."  It also did this to about 1/3 of the official DAZ products, installed from the Install manger, adn working fine before the update.  Now, I bought some stuff from the DAZ store today, and used install manager to install it.  It went to "Local User" isntead of having product metadata to put it in its own product.  I would fix this with "Find Mapped Folder" but that doesn't work at all.  BTW, I have the latest stable release.  It was doing this to me in the beta, but the new one does it, too.  When I click "Find mapped folder" it doesn't react, and "find product" is useless since the update dumped hundreds of products (both from the Daz store and elsewhere) into one folder.

"Browse to folder location", a right click from the content window, works fine in Studio 4.9.1.30. DIM will install to the root folder YOU put in the path, then use the meta data for location within the listed root. In DIM, click the gear wheel (upper right corner), then click Installation, ehich will show the path/allow you to select a path.

So, OK, I noticed it works sometimes now, but not on everything.  First of the "products" that were in Poser format is now empty in the content manager.  That's fine, a bit of a pain for some things Iw ill have to re-find bexause their geometries only exist in psoer format, but OK.  But take "Aged: The Secret Garden Getaway."  There's nothing in that product, so I search for a word that I think is in one of the filenames.  "Ivy."  Bingo, I find the file,  But I have no idea where it lives and where its sister textures are.  "Show in Mapped folder" does nothing, and "Show in Products" takes a huge amount of disk spinning time, then dumps me at "Local User."  Normally, I'd find the relevant fodlers and add them to a category or product.  Do I have to find the files (thousands across lots of products) individually in the "local user" folder and re-add them to the products?  That seems inefficient.

Just in "A" Here's a list of my products this happened to:

    Anything that was PS format

    Aged

    Almirena Dress

    Almirena Dress Textures

    Amal My Protector DS

    Amaree style DS

    Amorah Elven Knight

    Amphitrite Hair

    Anderson Hall

    Angela for S4 adn D4

    Anime Hair

    Arizona Hair

So, if you multiply that amount by the alphabet, you'll see it's a real mess.  DAZ was parsing that metadata fine before the update.  I've tried "re-import metadata," but it seems to be doing nothing so far.  I also used the content manager to uninstall and reinstall the first three products on this list.  It didn't help.  Does anyone who knows a lot about metadata see something that the above products have in common?

I can also confirm this feature is at least partially broken in 4.9.1.30 Pro 64 bit version. I exclusively use Daz Install Manager to install packages. This feature worked flawlessly on 4.8 on all content, but does nothing on 4.9 on the majority of my content.

  • From my experiments it doesn't seem to be to do with how content is installed (except Connect, where it doesn't work because Connect doesn't have a user facing mapped folders—although it now has "aliases" in in the Content Library in the current betas) or whether it has complete metadata or not. What I've found is that doesn't seem to work if the file is a Poser format file, or at least I didn't find one that it worked with. It worked on all the duf and dsa files that I tried.

I added complete metadata, including product, to a Poser format set of boots. Worked fine in Smart Content, but the direct to mapped folder did not work.

  • It appears this is still broken...why has this not been fixed?

It works for me most of the time - are you sure the content is isntalled correctly? What, if anything, happens when you try to use the command?
