cannot speak for anyone else but to me, nothing exciting

I grabbed a month of DAZ+ of which I just canceled the subscription

intend grabbing a few things before it's up but not expecting anything more than some things I wanted with a bit more discount to toss my coupons at because it's an overlapping month

Australian dollar exchange is awful and will only get worse

Busy getting ready for the big freeze that arrived last night that is to last till Tuesday. One day will have a -30F windchill. Will be driving flatmate to and from work each day, so he is not out in dangerous cold. And woke to 2.5 inches snow this morning. Setting up new computer still in small batches, and trying to catch up my other computers as well. Then hit with large OS updates Thursday. A dishwasher that decided to flood my kitchen late yesterday morning, not fixed till after dinner. And on the tail end of the flu, coughing a lot only now. Free time spent trying to create in Daz to just have things go wonky on me. Very discouraged overall. Ain't January fun?

Speaking for me, about a third of my year is spent doing a huge statistical review project. This is that third of the year. So that limits my art and forums time. (But ... lest anyone think I'm complaining ... it helps pay for my Daz addiction.smiley )

My usual haunt (The <whatever it is this time>, Complaint Thread) has been slow and I had been ending up hogging the posts.  So, I've more recently been trying to back-off and let others get a word in.   But like many in the US this January, I've been hunkered down, sipping hot cocoa and watching the sky fall in white flakes, and trying to avoid freezing my eyeballs if I do go out.  I even ordered new insulated gloves and a wool scarf, for when I do have to go out in the middle of next week as the Fahrenheits go negative.  (*brrrrrr....*)frown

  • Yes, it is quiet. I have an idea or two as to why, but I'll not say as it may, no would, stray into the wide range of off limits topics.
  • I'm pretty active on the forums these days, but sadly we just don't have a whole lot of engagement right now.

Still more here than at other places - On another site, it might take a day for a reply to the first post in the thread.

For me, the biggest motivation to participate in the forums is to get a response when I participate in the forums. If I don't, I feel like I wasted a fair amount of energy.

  • FSMCDesignsFSMCDesigns Posts: 12,768

Not a lot of interesting topics to participate in for me, too many what/where can I find this posts and then the one AI thread is still a bunch of non AI users, which doesn't benefit me since I use AI a lot these days. I also feel left out of the DAZ club since I have no interest in the premeire thingy, so i don't purchase much lately.

I am much more active on another forum since I can post and talk about AI with other AI artists along with DS users

  • WendyLuvsCatz The AUD$ is not only the problem. indecision

There are other factors that cause too much detriment as well.

I come sometimes here to relax and assist others, also asking for help when I am stuck with something else.

I have another project to do, with a tight deadline.

I am quite busy using Daz Studio, what a hard yakka. smiley

I used to actually post here to help others

I mostly render men and male content and the store has a strong female content focus so my interest here is limited.

Several years ago, due to time restraints and lack of interest/success, I quit social media. I can write a book in a heartbeat. It's gotten to a point that when I tell my husband about a book, I end up telling him the whole story in a few hours and he says, "Did you write any of this down?" My answer is always no. A 300 page novel takes me 30 days to write and 30 to polish. But art takes me much longer. I have written multiple unpublished books awaiting artwork for covers, trailers or picture book pages. DAZ is great but I like changing everything I buy, so... it's not a super fast solution. This married with responsibilities of looking after 1 disabled (but awesome) hubby, 4 dogs, 12 cats, a 3 fish tanks (one 40 gallon and  two75 gallon) and 150 birds makes time a sparse commodity. I have thousands of how to videos sitting on a hard drive awaiting publication, and I am infamous for posting a question or something, and running away to put out fires only to return a day or two later to respond (how rude right?). Lately I have been sweeping and vacuuming ash from our back yard (no grass just concrete) from the LA fires, day after day, after day after groundhog day. I have multiple projects due for publication this spring, so I guess I too will be awol for awhile but probably not missed lol.

Seconded. I won't be surprised if Genesis 10 to just fully commits to being a female figure and the only thing we get a new version of Vittorio for V4.

For my part, I've been having fun with the stuff I've purchased since the fall sales. I've used them to rework older renders, and to make new scenes.

This is one reason. If you can't even get to the forum, you certainly can't post or respond to other posts. This Bad Gateway is happening more and more often again.

Yeah that's a good point right there. The bad gateway has happened quite often today alone, especially lately (last 6 hours or so, give or take).

Hm-m. Gateway problems, again. Persistent cookie prompt, again. Coincidence?

  • gfdamron1gfdamron1 Posts: 403

Often forums are provided by a specialized vendor. The gateway issue might belong to the vendor and not DAZ.

  • WendyLuvsCatz Don't say that.

As a cat you get seven lives to enjoy everything without getting tired.

Duplicate of message that wouldn't post during gateway error. This is the image that I was trying to upload when the persistent gateway error kept happening.

Always thought cats had nine lives. However many it is, my poor old fleabag, at nineteen and four months, is running out of them. He's currently dozing on my lap.

  • richardandtracy You won't believe this:

Cat is a guy, when he dies, Seven widows mourn him! laughcheekysmiley

  • I understand. Not our 'Squeaky' though, he had a maximum of one lady he could have visited, then she got two small dogs. He doesn't like to visit, they're too busy, too excitable and too 'yappy'. Also, our wildlife garden is big enough to have every rodent species imaginable needed to entertain a cat. Regards, Richard.

I am now tasked with taking photos of my windows to document that 'Yes, my windows have NOT been repaired since a year ago when we dropped to -17F and I had a frozen icecycle form on my bedroom window.' Three visits from the vendor, no action, multiple follow-ups to apartment management... They have now asked that I take photos and email them. This morning, the water moisture turned to ice on the inside of our windows, with a covering of snow. Our temperature in Denver is -4F and feels like -16F. I worry about the homeless who won't go to the shelters that are opened up around the city. The fire department reported they are checking on their open fires to make sure they are safe. They also noted if there is an emergency, their top speed on roads would be 20mph due to ice.

As a note, I lived in L.A. from 1954 to 1965 and as the reports came in on the fires it seemed like my world was disappearing. The New York Times had a great map that expanded and I was able to look up where I lived in Westchester (where LAX is) and saw where the fires were in relation to where I use to ride my bicycle. The fires take me back to the Marshall fire we had northwest of where I live now, but very close to a friend's new home and the ones around where I lived in northern Santa Barbara County where we had wild fires often. I learned to drive scanning the skyline for smoke.

I am sneaking in renders of characters I bought back in 2023/2024. But it sometimes seems like an uphill battle some days. I am pleased with the two I did yesterday though.

  • Haven't been buying nearly as much. The two artists who seem to be the most prolific these past several months are two whose products I largely avoid, though occasionally I'll pick up something by one of the two if it's Daz+, though still never use it. G9 has been utterly uninspiring, and clothing that's compatible with G8 that isn't by Aeon is largely monochromatic. The exchange rate is artificially inflated for the time being, so it makes things that are already more expensive evern more so.

No buy, no horse in the race to talk about.

  • I'm another person dealing with winter weather, although not quite as cold as @LeatherGryphon & @memcneil70. (Only 12-17F lows) Also, I have dogs, work, other hobbies, and trying to get pricey car problem fixed.

Big reason is that I feel like outside of the Always Another Sale discussion and 1 or 2 other threads no one wants to engage with me. So of course I am posting less & mostly in Always Another Sale.

I tried socialising on some of those off topic threads but found it led to many of my posts disappearing cheeky

I've found that weather, computer or body maladies, and shopping excursions are safe to ramble on about.
