Genesis 3 in V-Ray: Problem with Eyes

Hi,

I’m trying to render Genesis 3 in V-Ray with 3ds Max and Daz's Alembic exporter. While I’ve managed to get great results with the skin, I’m struggling with the Eyes. I got some weird effect going on (please see screenshot and notice the strange projection of the texture).

For the Screenshot I’ve removed everything but the sclera, pupil and irises. That means i have removed eye moisture and eye socket too. The material is just a diffuse material without any reflection on it just to demonstrate how the texture looks like. The cornea is 100% opaque.

This strange artefacts are happening with every eye texture I’ve in my library for Genesis 3

Any ideas why it looks so strange? Is it a problem with the UV?

Thank you for any advice on this!

  • Nobody having this problem? Or nobody using VRay?

I wonder if it has to do with the way light reflects the edges? I honestly have no clue, and am merely speculating here, though I do have to say that effect does look pretty cool in the screenshot, what does it look like after rendering? Does it still look like that? And is this a Viewport image screenshot?

I sometimes got weird effects on eyes before rendering them in DAZ, which vanished when actually rendering. Never figured out why, but the end result was always fine, so didn't worry about it.

Hope you get this resolved! I'll be interested to see the answer!

  • Thats a render. I just deleted everything but the eyes and rendered it.

  • I've seen this before, but don't know what causes it. The UV coordinates get swapped. You can see the UV quads are flipped. It's almost as if the UV indexes and the 3D coordinate indexes are out of sync and off by one.
