Conforming attachment with ghost bones

Dear Daz Community,

Would it be possible to create a conforming attachment (e.g. clothes or hair) that also has rigged ghost bones?

My usecase is to have hair that can fit to a character and also have ghost bones in that hair.

Thanks for any help you can give,

Minxies

Yes, you can add bones with the Joint Editor tool and then weight-map them if you are in Daz Studio.

  • OK. Would the joint positions confirm as well?

I know the Creature Creator Addons Tail seems to manage it nicely (here: http://www.daz3d.com/creature-creator-add-ons-for-genesis-2-female-s )

...or would need a bit of scripting?

    Thanks,

Extra bones won't conform - there is, by definition, no bone in the base figure for them to follow. They will, however, follw their parent bones as any bone will when the figure is posed. Or are you asking about AutoFollow morphs rather than poses?

  • Ohh no, in my confusion in actually meant additional bones, not ghost bones!

Sorry, I was trying to be too clever.

Say if they were just regular bones, would it be easy enough to conform those?

Again, I think it might involve a bit of Daz scripting which I'm fine with, I just want to make sure there isn't a built it method first.

    Thanks,

As long as the names and joint centres match then the bones will follow the matching bones on the base figure automatically. That's why the Transfer Utility is usually used, it makes the match automatically, though you can also import an existing figure into Figure Setup, change the geometry, add or remove bones, and update to get a new figure with the names and centres matching the old where the bone is still present.
