Evening,
Just got a new MSI Workstation laptop and its a big upgrade for me....and everything is running GREAT....minus damn Daz3D.
Anyone got any tips for setup or maybe should I go to an earlier version?

What problem are you having?
slowest response times I have ever seen. I have 16GB of RAM..an i7 6700 processor....and 4.9 Pro is not responding at all. Program opens fine..once opened it just sits there flipping me off while I wait like im waiting for the dial up sound lol
Does the status bar at the bottom show anything happening? Is this before you even try to load an item?
yes this is before I load an item. I am literally waiting for several seconds before I can even type in my account information to connect. I even tried working offline and same dealio.
Maybe have a peek at what the Nvidia control panel is set at?
Set the main Daz3d programme as "Don't use graphic card acceleration". Then you can faff around within Daz itself to specify "use my fancy Nvidia card for rendering".
Also, double check you haven't accidentally clicked on "Render preview window in real time" in the cricket ball Draw Styles menu next to the positional cube thingie in Daz. That'll give any machine a kick in the cuda cores.
Thanks for the tips....right now I cannot even load a character as just going thru the content library is slow as heck.
I loaded up for this CAD/3D specific nvidia card just to cut down on my render times...I didnt think it would be this bad in the opposite direction!
Check your task manager to see if there is anything else eating up your processor. Also, check to see if your firewall software is set to block the ports to the CMS.

And check your drivers...not just video, but everything.
Yes, it's probably brand new and drivers should be up to date...except there's a chance that either the first round of Windows updates messed with them or it's been sitting on a shelf a couple of months and needs an up date.
I have updated everything and currently waiting on another windows 10 update to finish before trying again. I tried before the windows update and it was horribly slow. I literally bought this machine for 3d rendering and am beyond frustrated.
Hoping after the windows 10 final update is done...I can get in and see whats going on with my settings if there are changes needing to be changed.

ok after a ton of updates I now can see my content library and have reimported the meta data but now all my thumbnails are showing a yellow triangle with a ! inside of it...obviously an error of some kind..and the load times are still SLOW....but not as slow.
Any tips? I feel like i am close but no clue where to look.
Can you go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager, expand the "Daz Studio Formats" and "Poser Formats", and post a screenshot?

Those don't look right -- how and where are you installing content?
got program running on the SSD.....directory from my old rig is on the HDD.
I actually changed one setting via the nvidia control panel and stuff is moving ok right now.....
But obviously if something isnt set up right...please let me know. Before it was clean on my old rig and i literally just tried to do the same here on the new rig but the OS SSD is not large enough to have my legacy content on their.
What's the exact path to your Runtime and Data folders?
