Fix Pelvic Distortion - how?

How can I correct pelvis / hip / leg distortion when heavier characters do poses with legs bent at the hip?

It happens frequently, but most noticably with:

sitting poses

flexible poses / splits

etc.

Note:  I started using Daz specifically to make fat characters do extreme poses.  I know it's possible because I've seen other CG artists do much heavier characters in extereme poses without this distortion.

Custom correction morphs...and those will need some skill/familiarity with a modeling program.

    which character/program ?

    whats a pevic/pevis ?

  • Program = Daz 4.9

Character = ALL (when made heavier / Pear shape turned up).

Image above is Genesis 2.  Also happens with Genesis 3 and other figures when you make them heavier and bend their legs out to the side.

I meant *Pelvis* and *Pelvic* (OP corrected).  In other words, the hip / upper thigh region.  The attached picture in my first post shows the distortion.

Can I turn off the pose auto-correction that Daz does for characters?  That seems to be causing the problem.

Would Beautiful Bends for Genesis 2 Female solve the problem?

  • I applied a smoothing modifier to the figure.

70-80 itterations corrects the distortion in the hips, but causes distortion to the butt (twisting), breasts (changes size and shape) and face.

Is there a way to apply a smoothing modifier to one or two areaas instead of the whole figure?  I think weight maps might work (I've noticed smoothing brush options), but they don't seem to do anything.

Sometimes for extreme morphs the bones can get a little "off". You could try Edit -> Rigging -> Adjust Rigging to Shape and see if that does the trick.

  • Neat idea, but adjust rigging to shape shifts the bones around.  It looks funny with the pelvis really high in comparison to the legs.  It also makes her torso look longer.

Heavier characters still show distortion if I use that method.

While I adjust settings, the preview shows the figure without that distortion.  When I let go of a slider, then Daz does some sort of automatic process and that's when the distortion shows up.  How do I mitigate that process?
