OpenGL Preview Options in DAZ Studio?

Is there any way to tone down or turn off certain openGL settings in DAZ Studio?

I made an interesting observation while bouncing between D|S and Poser. In Poser, you can adjust everything about the preview and, typically, I leave "Enhance Multilayer Transparency" off because, honestly, I almost never need it and my camera/computer moves like sludge when it is enabled.  In certain, heavy scenes, I'll also simply tone down or turn off other preview options, so I can move the camera around without having to feel like I'm dragging it through mud.  This keeps me moving fast and easy even on horrendously huge scene files.

In DAZ Studio, I have the same sort of sludge when trying to move the camera around on even a really, really simple scene if I'm using any draw mode that shows a texture.  I don't need a fancy preview.  I don't need every bell and whistle enabled or turned up to max.  I can visualize pretty well, especially if I can see -some- texture.  Is there any way to tone down the preview options in D|S?  I've been hunting through preferences and render options and, obviously, I'm missing -something- because I can't see a way to tweak the preview options anywhere.  My Google-Fu has also failed me. :(  Help meeeeee?

(I am currently working in DAZ Studio 4.8.0.59 Pro Edition 64-bit, Win7 SP1 with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 690 with updated drivers; I rencently did a clean reinstall of Win7, so everything is up-to-date.)

How much memory does the 690 have?

I'm assuming that it is the only card for this machine...so how much 'eye candy' do you have enabled in Windows?

It shouldn't be horribly slow in to do the viewport...I have a 1 GB 430 and it is reasonably responsive, except on massive scenes.

In the Preferences (F2)...post a screenshot of the Interface tab.

  • It has 2GB of video memory, and you're correct that it is my only video card.

Thank you so much for any feedback or thoughts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's one of those things where I tried to figure it all out myself, but... I'm officially driving myself insane over it.

Try turning on hardware Anti-Aliasing on and see if the Display Optimization set to Best is any better.

  • Just tried this (thank you for the help!) and if it is any better, it is too negligible to be noticeable.:(  Maybe my computer just needs to be put out to pasture.

The 364 Windows drivers have been causing fits in Studio...you may want to roll back to a 362 version.
