How Can I Split My Library Up

I'd like to split my library up into several different libraries (one for fantasy stuff, one for contemporary stuff, the main one with universal stuff). Is there a way to do this without reinstalling things? Mostly, I want to move stuff I've gotten from non-DAZ sources. If I just move folders, will I loose the metadata connections so textures, etc., are lost?

Move which folders? And that isn't how DAZ metadata works.

The (usually) safe folders and files to move are the ones visible in the Content Library tab. They contain links to the texture and mesh data (the actual 3D object) files stored in fixed locations in your content folders; these files must not be visible in the Content Library tab, if they are, then something's gone wrong with installation. These files must also never be moved, because the links in the visible Content Library files tells D|S how to find them. And these links are one-way — the texture and mesh files don't care where the content files calling them up happen to be.

Note, though, that this only applies to the Content Library tab. If you use the Smart Content tab, then moving files like this will break the database that's built from the metadata; in this case, you should learn how to use Categories to set up your content in a way that's easy for you to find things.

(I'm not telling you how to do this, because everyone thinks of content categories in a different way. You can ask ten D|S users the One True Way™  to arrange their categories, and you'll get at least fifteen answers, all correct.)
