So, I have been attempting to create my own Glossary of terms and acronyms for the DAZ world and I wanted to get the community opinion on the following:
LXM = LuxRender Materials (Reality and Luxus plugins)
MC6 = Poser 6+ Material preset file (Daz doesn't read these files completely)
MDL = Material Definition Language (Nvidia Iray)
OSL = Open Shader Library (Octane)
RSL = Renderman Shading Language
I am hoping that someone out there can either confirm the information above or provide the correct information for each of these acronyms.
Comments
OSL = Open Shading Language (and 3Delight now has it...theoretically they could end up using the same shaders, but I'm not sure how compatible the two implementations will be).
A glossary would be a wonderful resource. I still don't know what an ERC is and when to "freeze" it, and it took me a while to catch on that FBM and PBM are "full body morph" and "partial body morph"... I think.
Thanks JDStrider :-)
Yes, FBM = Full body morph and PBM = partial body morph.
ERC = Enhanced Remote Control. Basically it refers to having a master parameter which automatically controls other parameters.
For example if you have "close left eye" and "close right eye" morphs on your figure you could create a "close both eyes" master dial which would apply both morphs at once.
Another typical example is JCM (Joint Controlled Morph): you define a corrective morph which is applied automatically when you bend a particular joint, so the joint "pilots" the morph.
Here's the doc page about ERC : http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/artzone/wiki/user/rbtwhiz/technotes/content/erc/start
MC6 is Material Collection 6
Consensus is the word you are looking for.
