Render differences in DAZ 4.9 with Briley for Gia 7

OkarioOkario Posts: 18

Hi.

On a character, I'm using the Briley texture ( https://www.daz3d.com/briley-for-gia-7 ). But since I update my DAZ in 4.9, the skin color is not the same and seems colorless. It's the same set, with the same light on both screen.

4.8

4.9

Can we hope an update of this character?

With the upgrade to 4.9 a fix to Iray in the area of gamma correction was made, and that is likely to be the cause of the differences you see.  Have a look at this

Thank you for the link :)

I was aware about a problem (not in detail), but I don't understand why some characters have an update to fix the problem, others have the option for DAZ 4.8 or 4.9, and others have nothing. It's seems not fair to me to buy something who doesn't work at it should be with the newer version of the software.

I'm not a "specialist" in 3D, just a "newbi" who enjoy DAZ for what it is, and for didn't having to learn to many about 3D's stuff.

So, how I'm suppose to fix all my characters who have the same problem, and especialy, how I know that I'm doing the right thing for each of them?

I wish I could offer you some useful advice, but I am in the same boat!  All I can suggest is if a quick test render looks like the skin tetxures are not performing well, make the adjustment and consider saving as a preset if you'll be usign the same materials frequently?

It wasn't a gamma change in 4.9, it was the SSS change. The issue in the thread you linked to was the OP's incorrect gamma setting. The Daz default has been 2.2 for awhile.
