After upgrading...can't find files for scenes

This happened to me a while back and I haven't been able to address it until now.
I had scene files in Daz Studio 4.2 that included character morphs and such. Then I installed 4.7 and several things happened:
#1.... When I click on 4.2 to open it, 4.7 opens.
BUT THE WORSE PROBLEM IS
#2. when I try to load scenes from 4.2, I get a long error message that says, "One or more files could not be found while loading file.....etc."
No matter how I configure, or link up the content files, the old scenes from 4.2 give that error and won't load. SO I have lost my morphed characters
from 4.2 because they were saved in scenes.
IS THERE A WAY TO RECOVER THEM???

Go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager and make sure both "Daz Studio Formats" and "Poser Formats" are set correctly.
I assume you mean 4.02. How were they installed?
First question, do the missing files actually exist on your system at all?
Hey....Thank you for responding to my post. I appreciate it very much.
1. I guess I meant 4.02....and I guess 4.07......The desktop icon link says 4.7 and the other says 4.....so I assumed it meant 4.7.
As for the way I installed them, I let the automatic install process happen. But it's been a while and I can't remember exactly.
I did check the Content Directory Manager several times and as far as I can tell, the paths are there. Currently, in 4.7, I can see the content in the content window as before, and I seem to have access to my characters, poses, materials, props, etc. But the scene file I saved has the morphs and edits I created. So that's where the problem is...Can't open that. It is a Victoria 4.2 character, morphs, etc.
2. To Richard's Question: As far as I know, the missing files should be. I did look in the "Log file" and it showed a long list of "not found" items....I did this after the failed scene opening.
So the files do exist? Are they in the same path (relative to the content folder location) as the error message says?
Hey....I did notice that there is a large list of missing morph files in the "Log" after the failed attempt to load the scene. Here is an image of a small portion:
Do those files exist, and are they in the correct path?
The error message only shows the path of the scene file I tried to load. It doesn't show/ give a location/ path for the missing files. I wish it would ask for a location and a file. That would allow you to locate them if they are there.
The error messages you posted above give file names and relative paths.
How might I go about getting those files(the ones listed is the error log) and placing them into the correct folder?
It looks like the missing files are located somewhere back in the old Daz 4 folder. Wondering why they were left there and
how I can get them into the current path. Can I copy them and put them(or the whole folder they're in) in the correct path location where everything else is.
Please forgive my lack of tech knowledge with this.
Thanks again for any help you can give me
These are relative paths - they tell you where the file is in a content directory, but they don't tell you where the content directory is. I can't recall if the older versions of DS saved to the current content dierctory or the default when the file was being saved to a location inside a content directory, they would default (as the current version does) to the first content directory if saving to a location not itself inside a content directory. If your content was installed to a folder that was a content dierctory, but not the first, then it's quite possible that all of the auto-created asset files for your saved scenes went to the first content directory and not to the one you have used in DS 4.7.
So, the question is did your old installation of DS have an additional content directory, and if it did does it still exist on your system? It would be a folder containing folders named Data and Runtime, among others.
Mike & Richard.
First off....THANK YOU for your timely and quick help/ Responses.
I was able to load the scene file. FUNNY THING IS, I actually have an old Version 3 directory as well as a 4.2 directory.
SO I made a new content directory slot in my content manager window and linked it to the old 4.2 directory. Then when I attempted to load the scene, it didn't give me the \error, but said it was missing a runtime file. However, it asked me if I wanted to locate the runtime file and I said YES!!! It brought up a window and had the missing file name in the file box. I did a search for the file and found that it was in my Version 3, runtime folder. When I went through this process, it loaded the scene. YAAAAAAYYYYYYY!!!!!!!
QUESTION: Should I rely on this process, or should I try to copy these files/ folders to the 4.7 directory??? If so, how should I do it??
I wouldn't merge them in case theer are older versions of files that would end up overwriting newer, but you could move the whole lot to a still-separate location in a moer convenient place and add that as a content directory - for which you select the folder that contains the Data and Runtime folders. If you add older directories after the newer then in any cases of older and newer versions of the same item DS should find, and use, the newer first.
Funny thing is, this happens to me everytime I upgrade. I recently just upgraded BY ACCIDENT and now I cant find my saved facial expressions. I'm not as computer literate as most here, but this is quite frustrating. I cant find any of my saved facial expressions. If I uninstalled this new version (4.9 pro) which I don't particularly like and install the older version. Would it put everything back like it was?
