@Romulus71 - At this point it will be an addon later. I've split all the parts I had into 4 different armors and after that I'll make a pack (if Daz accepts it) of all the remaining, unused pieces, which is about a half dozen of every armor piece (helmets, shoulders, boots, chest belts, bracelets and gauntlets). Waist pieces are the only thing I made 4 of (hence only 4 armors). I could make more waist pieces and make more complete armors, but there's too many other things I want to do too :)

Everything will be textured in a compatible fashion so people will be able to mix and match any piece and still have it look coh

Sounds great! Can't wait to play with them!

Decided to try something more natural looking and grabbed the Highlands product. Looks good and renders pretty nice out of the box, only added 1 light behind the characters as otherwise the sun was overpowering everything a little too much.

All great images, but this one looks particularly badass!

Greg - That one's for the main image, thought I'd do it in the same vein as the Kadis armor main image to have them look nice together in the store page :)

One more with Dain 8 and reusing the Main promo lighting setup (with Blue from the back instead of red) and more brightness.

The dirt layer wasn't looking so good in that setting and had to make it shinier and use the transparency image as a bumpmap so it pops a bit better. Think I'll add the soft bumpmap effect to the material and make a preset that makes the dir layer glossier as an option, for those shots where you want a bit more sweat or whatever.

You really know how to make great things look great!

  • StrangeFateStrangeFate Posts: 807

Thanks Barbult, they wouldn't be as great without the great people testing them :)

And another promo showing the 3 included presets. There's a lot of parts you can hide so I figured it would be nice to save people some time and have different wearable presets.
Got the idea after seeing one of Algovincian's 'Conan-ish' test renders with the armor... I honestly hadn't thought up to that point to hide that so much stuff, but you actually can get a decent barbarian out of it :)

I personally love this set; and I like the variety of presets and materials; you can have a cohesive group of warriors from the same "clan", but with different, say, levels of strengths and such with the variants.  Your sets, for me, are an autopurchase. :D

Exactly. There are so few artists whose WIPs I follow, but you're right at the top. Can't wait for this set!

@DarwinsMishap - This was exactly my thought. When playing around with this set during testing, I found that you could take it all the way down to just the warpaint and produce an excellent tribal feel:

With his dark skin, Glumgurgle looks aboriginal to me with the war paint. He definitely looks ready to play the role of the tribal shaman in this trio.

I think it's worth noting how well the armor picked up the environment, too. The mats were not altered - it's just the way the metals interact with the lighting and reflect the environment.

Here's that Conan image that was mentioned:

You guys are in for a treat when this set is finally let loose!

I also had a chance to test this. It is great. It fits right into the Red Crow Inn, too.

Another one. Stragefate described this as "ready for a fist fight". It shows how nicely the armor picks up the light. This set has an unbelievable amount of detail.

Here is another image with just the war paint, subligar and sword. You can load all the armor on, or use the bare minimum, or anything in between, depending on the look you want for your scene.

The armor was designed as a more army builder type of armor as opposed to the more unique/epic look of the old Kadis armor, so it will hopefully work somewhat well in that regard.

That said, while I tried to make sure that everything could be hidden properly without issues (unlike the Kadis armor where I see a lot of boot renders without the metal bits with floating fur) I hadn't really planned for the barbarian look, which I'm really liking these days. Happy accidents do happen :)

Only thing that bothers me about the whole thing is that the included hierarchical poses reset all the scale tweaks I made for the Barbarian preset (larger leather armor pads, pouch etc) and there's no way to tell Daz to ignore scales or other settings when saving hierarchical poses.
Might check later today if I can just delete them from the .duf without breaking them.

Oh and there's also the new thread for the armor in the commercial section: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/408726/coming-soon-bone-breaker-fantasy-armor-for-genesis-8-males-commercial

Soon'ish I should have more wips here from the next project I just started texturing... it's a small one but given some material we already had lying around, it seemed like a good idea to do  :)

Quick preview of a small product Roguey and I are finishing, a set of Medieval and Fantasy shields for G8 M and F. (Armor is in QA land atm)

There's a total of 7 unique modeled shields, 5 wood and metal and 2 full metal shields. The product basically reuses the models from the Medieval Bedroom and Red Crow Inn and adds a few new models.

All shields come in plain unpainted versions, with materials adding as many painted versions as we can think of without spending too much time on the product.
We're trying to cover some of the typical historical viking etc paints plus some fantasy ones. So far there's around 20 variations in total and there's probably around 10+ or so more we still want to add.

There's morphs to move and scale the straps and grips independently so they can be adapted to most arms and sizes and you can also scale the shield part without affecting the strap and grip.

Since we kinda rebuilt the shields and UVs a bit, the existing textures from the Bedroom and Inn won't work on these which is a shame, but I'll include most of the designs used there and since we seem to use decorative shields quite often for the environments, I think we'll use these models too as props in future enviros with new painted designs that can also be applied to the weearables (and vice versa), so you'll always have new swappable designs over time... not that I think anyone needs or wants 100 different shield variants, but at least you'll be able to get more use out of things.

I may also update the shields product with designs that compliment the armors I do as I do them, like the black/red snake design (and another one not in the image) that are in the style of the Bone breaker armor war paints.

Probably a lot of thoughts for a small product, but that seems to be half the fun for me :)

Awesome collection! Will this fancy shield with 4 spikes (leftmost) and Red Crow Shield be included in the pack?

The metal shield with the spikes is included, the Red Crow Inn shield isn't, tho we'll give it a look and see if we can add it, as long as it works well enough with the set of morphs we made for the straps and grip.

  • Thanks for the answer! I love your work. Spiked Shield is absolutely great.

Nice! Thank you for giving us so many choices

  • StrangeFateStrangeFate Posts: 807

Roguey is updating the last adjustment morphs for the shield straps, and it should be all done!

The Crow Inn shield was too much work to add (to make the strap morphs work with it as with the others) and well, it's very simple anyway... I hope we can do another pack with more different shield shapes in the future.

We ended up with 50+ material variations in total for the 7 shields, although some have a lot more materials than others as their designs are already busy enough, not leaving enough room for much.
