it says "Just enter a text string of up to 32 characters and export the string to a convenient location on your hard drive in the form of an .obj file or a Poser Python script"

only the tt fonts.

it doesn't say if it creates a uv map?

Hexagon 2.5 can do that for you too.

Just to be clear, Hexagon can generate the 3D letters and UV map them. And its available right here at DAZ for free.

I've had this and wasn't impressed. I can't remember the details of why.

Hexagon is very good at it to be exact. It has very good control over the quality output of the mesh.

Carrara can do it too but I found Hex far simpler and way more robust.

I believe any 3D modelling app can do this. I haven't tried it in Hex, but I have tried it in Blender and it works, and it can be UV Mapped. If you did get this, however, UV Mapper Classic can easily create a UV Map for you, which is free and can be downloaded here  -->
