New version of items - automatic notification - feature request

When you buy an item, it has a specific version. Lets say 1.0.

Then some time passes and an update is made. So now the item is 1.1.

But since you can download items only a short period of time, it would make sense if a customer would receive an email which tells him or her that he or she can download an update of the item.

So everyone could use always the newest version of his/her purchases. Often errors like duplicate IDs occur on outdated versions.

So what you think about it. Is this technical possible?
