Legacy UVs for Genesis 3: Michael 4 issue

KnightTekKnightTek Posts: 62

Hello All, I seem to have a slight problem using the Legacy UVs for G3 product. I carefully followed the instructions included but for some reason I cannot get the GeoGrafts to disappear after applying the M4 material file (which is in .duf format). Could someone give me guidance on how I can get this to work? I'd really appreciate any help. I have included a screenshot of the issue I am having. Thanks!!! smiley

Did you have the geografts seelcted as well as the base figure whena pplying the preset? Or if there's a geometry shell, did you have that selected?

I did not see the image before it was removed but I am guessing that the geografts were displayed with their loading surface of transparent blue. This would suggest that they were not selected, as Richard has said, when the material files were applied.  The "!Prepare G3M" icon should run all the necessary steps including selecting the geografts, and it may be that you have somehow deselected them prior to applying the MAT.

Run the prepare script again and check in the Scene tab that the geografts as well as Genesis 3 are selected.  Then when you apply the material file all the surfaces should take the texture.

Thank you Richard and Cayman!!! You were correct. When I added the material files, the geografts were not selected. Everything works perfectly now! Thanks for creating a great product Cayman! Oh, sorry about the nude figure. Next time I will put pants on him. smiley

Oops, it seems I spoke too soon without rotating my figure to look at the back. His head is not applying the material. I had everything selected but it is not accepting it. Any thoughts on what step I am missing? Thanks again!

Well, the Face surface is using the hairy MAT and the Torso (which includes the back of the head) is using the bald MAT. By the zigzags I can see that the hair is applying to the head geograft but not to the head surface on Genesis 3.

It may be that this is because the original head hair texture is a "partial" texture, so that on M4 it applies the full bald texture to the SkinTorso, Nipple and SkinHip surfaces, but the partial hairy texture to the SkinHead and SkinNeck surfaces.  On Genesis 3 these five legacy surfaces are amalgamated into one ("Torso").  The geografts can take the individual legacy surfaces, but Genesis 3 can only take one.  Usually the surfaces would use the same "full" texture, but in this case there is a split.

This is discussed in the PDF documentation and also in the Commercial thread.  Depending on how the MAT files have been set up, and how the textures are laid out, you may have to create a couple of new "full" textures to take the place of the partial textures, and then save new DUF files.  This shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes or so.  Let me know how you get on.

Thanks again for your response, Cayman! I will give this a try and see what happens. I will update you on my progress.

  • Where does one find the "!Prepare G3M" icon?

  • Nevermind. did a search in the Content Library's search field for "G3M"    I'm not familiar enough with all of the panes.  Sorry
