Nvidia Iray Crash - Guided Tutorial

Hello! I am new to the forums, and the entire Daz program so I apologise in advance if this has been answered before but I couldn't find where.

I have been working through the guided tutorial in the Daz program and when it comes to the 'Lighting The Scene' section and asks me to select 'Nvidia Iray' from the menu it crashes Daz entirely. Is there a problem with this? Not sure how to post crash logs, if someone could advise?

Thank you.

Is this the nVidia Iray preview mode, from the menu button at top-right of the viewport, or the Iray render mode in Render Settings? What are you system specifications? Which version of DS is this - Help>About Daz studio will give the number at top-left of the splash screen.

  • It's the preview mode from the menu button. The drop down listing.

The DZ I'm using is Version 4.9.2.70 Pro Edition (64-bit)

    System specs are:

  • Tried to run a few other of the tutorials and they all crash at the lighting section when I try to load the Nvidis Iray setting on the drop down menu.

  • Anyone? I can't progress with this program when it continues to crash. I'd appreciate any and all advice for possible fixes.

There were some late-discoveries of bugs in the tutorials, they are being worked on and some fixes will aparently be entering testing (but I'm not sure if that means private first or straight to a public beta).

Stop using the tutorials and start experimenting with the lighting. There are plenty of YouTube tutorials about iray lighting.

I'm experiencing this too. Too bad it does not work properly.

  • Yes.  I was so excited to  be able to show this new product to my design team and lo and behold, the scene tutorials crash on Windows, Mac... doesn't matter if it's got the latest Nvidia card... or not.  The SciFi warrior gets to the 2nd Continue, the inside the asylum is the only one that didn't crash, at some point during the tutorial.  The Day at the Beach made it all the way to the 2nd continue of the IInd part!

Still an issue with 2017 upgrade of 4.9.3.166

What about your memory? RAM + HD-cache?

I experienced the same issues until I expanded it. Now I have up to 46GB total and it was max. used up to 22GB by a small but detailed scene.
You may have a look at your task manager.
