Area Render Question

Ok, this may seem a silly question but I'm still learning, learning and more learning all the ins and outs.  It could be on the tip of my nose and I wouldn't see it. O.o    Anyway is there a way to render just one part of a scene and save it? For example if I rendered a complete scene, saved out the image and then realized a small mistake that I wanted to correct without re-rendering the whole image again, could I do like a spot render of that area and be able to save it?  I tried using the spot render, but it wouldn't let me save it.  I know when I use to use Poser I could do this and then composite the correction in photoshop.

Any useful help is always greatly appreciated. :)

Spot render Tool > Tool Settings Pane and choose "New Window" that will allow you to save the area at full size with the rest being transparent if you save as PNG etc.

Use the Spot Render tool (from the Tools menu if it isn't on a toolbar) and from the Tool Settings pane set it to render to a new window.
