serial code not working

I've installed carrara beta,and input the serial code from the page,the first time it said it was invalid,so I checked and it is the right code,so I did it exactly as it is capital letters and dashes,and it still says it is invalid.

should I installthe other stuff as well,the render node and mimic thing?
is that nessesary to get it to work?
