Cannot get LightDome to match Scene Lighting Intensity (Iray)
Hello all,
So I'm putting together the following scene. I am rendering my own HDRI using VUE, though I made quite a low-res one at about 2000 x 1000 pixels just to make sure I had the camera angle and all perfect. Now, the lighting is perfect as well... until I apply the HDR in DAZ, in the render settings --> environment slot.
As you can see the sky is way too bright compared to the scene, and turning up the intensity for some reason washes out the background too, so that doesn't seem to be an option.
Is this only happening because I made a low-rez HDR or because of the specific settings I might have used creating the HDR in VUE?
And, I'm trying my best to avoid putting a distant light in. I can't stand the harsh shadows those make in Iray with no apparent way to soften them up.
Thank you for any help.

Still having this problem. Today I rendered the same background in VUE, but this time at an 8000 x 4000 resolution with high render settings.
On the left, I included a distant light; on the right, it's only the dome.

How can I achieve good lighting without resorting to using a distant light?
I have no experience of this myself, but there are several threads I've seen that talk about using Vue to create HDRI's for DAZ Studio use - maybe some of these may help, or give you an idea of who would know more:
