In-store items that are also sold by other vendors

I have a question regarding products available from the store here that are also available from other vendors. I've been reloading/reinstalling content from an old hard drive I no longer use on my current computer, and I noticed I have a few items sold both here and from other vendors' websites. How would I go about getting these items added to my account as items I own, so they will be excluded from whenever I do a search on the store so that I don't end up re-purchasing them from here?

With the exception of some software items in the store should be exclusive to Daz - whata re you seeing in other stores?

  • Actually, I should have worded that better. I noticed that in addition to items I've purchased from here, I have a few items from other vendors (not necessarily DAZ exclusives, but items that are for both DS and Poser). I just know it seems that I have at least two items on it that actually don't appear to be in my product library. I rarely make actual purchases from any sites other than DAZ's store (Renderosity, and a couple of other Poser-friendly vendors), and a huge chunk of my content is freebie stuff from here, Renderosity, and ShareCG.

I started up with this hobby back when DS was still at 2.x, just before 3.x came out, so a lot of the early stuff I had that is on this old drive may not even be available anywhere anymore. I was just curious if there was a way to get any item I know that is available here added to my product library if I happen to find something that isn't coming up in my product library (which are likely older non-DAZ exclusive items that were available way back then).

If I find an item that I know is available in the store here on my old drive (but not listed in my product library), I suppose I can purchase it from here to make sure that I not only have the item legally (I don't use torrents, I tried to download a video once that way, but I got a corrupted unwatchable file, go figure), but also to make sure I have a correct, updated working copy. I hate the thought of having to purchase an item more than once if it can be avoided, I just barely make a little more than minimum wage, so I'm essentially getting by from paycheck to paycheck at the moment, hence I rarely purchase content.

Where did you buy the packs that aren't showing up?

  • That's the problem. These files on the old drive are items dating back years, up to ten years or so, and I'm not sure where I initially obtained them all from. I've gone through multiple hard drives over the years, not to mention that my current desktop system is the 7th one I've purchased over the years. This is an issue I went through once before with 3DU Sadie. I had bought her once from the 3DU site initially, and since then I've repurchased her from the store here, so I know that she's one non-DAZ exclusive item that I've purchased twice now, and I do have her in my product library. This is something I'd like to avoid repeating, if possible.

I know that some vendor items offered here are/were also available from Renderosity. Don't forget, when DAZ first started up, they were offering Poser content while they were developing the earliest versions of DAZ Studio, so a lot of that older stuff wasn't DAZ-exclusive content, and was available from other Poser-based sites (many of which no longer exist >cough<Poserverse>/cough<). I used to have a lot of the old freebies from here that are no longer available, so I know that I'll never be able to get them added to my library, since they've been long since vaulted/retired/lost with the old DAZ servers, etc., so I suspect that's what most of the files I've noticed on the old drive are, items long since retired or lost in the electronic void of cyberspace.

Chances are those old items won't even work on the current versions of DS or Carrara, so it's not a critical matter to me, just a curious thought that had crossed my mind regarding my product library content.

I have quite a few older Rendo items which came over to the Daz Store.   I see no reason why you would need to purchase them again if you already bought them once at another store.

WHat are the products called, or what is the name of the folder they're in?

    Hi KnightStaker000,

3D Universe has never sold content directly from our site. Our products listed on our site link to the DAZ Store for actual purchase. Although we have sold before at Renderosity, and HiveWire - Sadie in particular has only ever been available for purchase in our DAZ Store, so you shouldn't have had to repurchase the item.
