Studio 4.9 *without* PostgresqlCMS?

JOdelJOdel Posts: 6,286

Is it possible to run 4.9 without the PostgresqlCMS running in the background? It's messing up my Adobe software, and quite frankly, I use Adobe software more than I use Studio.

I don't use Connect. I don't use DIM. I don't use metadata or smart content. I download and install everything mannually, except for the stuff that comes in the bitrock installers -- and those require installation on my internal hard drive, which isn't where I keep my content libraries.

Will Studio run without this app? What can I expect to not work if I delete it?

Further info: I'm on a 1-year-old iMac running ElCapitan.

Simple answer is Yes, DS has no real need for the CMS or Connect and IMHO runs better without them clogging your hardware.

Do note that PostgreSQL runs only while DS or Install manager (or Carrara) are running, it isn't an always-on process the way Valentina was. The CMS is used by some other features (AutoFIt, for example) beyond the visible content management aspects.

No CMS is not needed for Auto-Fit, all it does is automate the Fit-To option for conforming items that don't have that set.  You can still manually Fit-To.

Oh good. What currently happens is that every time I boot the computer I get the panel for installing it. And if I authorize it, it waits a few minutes and then I get the installer program, which removes the previous day's copy and reinstalls it. I'll just cancel and if it's already installed, I would imagine that it will be accessible to the program when I launch Studio.

If it only runs when Studio is running then I don't know what's messed up Photoshop 2015 I was able to run it before I upgraded Studio from 4.8, but not now. And InDesign has some glitches as well. Although it does at least run.
