Renders Stopping

My renders in a scene keep stopping at 52-minutes, at about 7% rendered. I have increased the Max Time to the Max, and I am not sure why it is doing this. I keep starting a render, leaving for work or for a social event, only to come home and find that my renders have stopped and won't resume. Any ideas what could be causing this and how to fix it?
Also, if anyone has some tips that might speed up the rendering in the scene, that would be great. 7% in 52 minutes with aTitan Z and an Nvidia 970 in the machne seems a bit long.

It looks as if it's an interior scene - it's always harder to get those lit adequately. Given your powerful hardware it may be that Iray is getting through the set number of samples in the time and then stopping - try increasing the max number of samples (or iterations, I can't recall the label off-hand) but also try adding more light to the scene.
