Why does a value saved in a pose as -40 comes back as -63. something after load?

I made a tripod with 15 movable parts......and it works great, but I would like to ad some poses just for conveinience but then things got weird........I pose the tripod (notice I restricted the movements to a measly -40 in one direction, since I myself hate it when things bend out of shape unintentionally). Then I saved it like I saved Mrs. V in all her renditions umpteenth times......Vicky keeps sticking together but she does not use translations to much.....AFAIK. Now tripods by nature do......so what the %#^%#^# is happening?

Well, opening the .duf I can see that the load is not the problem, the save already messes up the pose! Nice........

    Hell yeah!

Loading the file in good old Wordpad and settings all crooked pararmeters to -40 by hand did the trick......great! Having created a workaround, I still would like to grok ((C) Robert Heinlein), what the original problem was.....IMHO this should NOT be happening!

    Greets.....

Was the value actually 40 when you saved, or was it saved higher but with limits on so that it didn't show?

Not that I know off (is that possible, yeep).......Richard but I will check your theorie right away.....mon dieu!

    Greets....

I checked and indeed there is no way to pass -40 (I've locked and hidden everything I can........). And checked again......now in the last picture you see what's happening....your little program used for saving poses saves the RAW value (or so it seems), strange it doesn't do that with rotations (or Vicky would turn into a contortionist on a daily base)...... lets see how the file looks!

No need for further discussion you are right......some whizzkid at

needs a freindly pommeling with the proverbial dirty rotten trout.....NO PROGRAMMING AFTER MIDNIGHT!cheeky

Hmzzz, with rotations the Raw value is dictated by the max.......so:

    if rawvalue > maxvalue then

          rawvalue = maxvalue....

    else

They can make it happen with rotations but the world is not based on rotations alone......

But all pun aside this will be a source of problems when I wanna make a deliverable of my little tripod.......if someone desides to make poses he or she will be as disappounted as moi.....maybe a readmenot (<- has a better reading rate then readme files) file will be in order!

    Greets!

I think this has been reported, but please open a ticket just to be sure it isn't missed.

Done reporting but somehow this did not sink in to well at your end Richard.....I tried explaining it again.....in small freindly words and with pictures....I hope your customer department will now get the point. I could send you the ticket number.........and they didn't recognize the tripod (not supprisingly since I made it myself). It's not a fluke in the item it's a fluke of DS itself and the way it handles saving translations.....and a Raw value that isn't topped of.
